Im not sure what your point here is. unless you think it's impossible to encode space/time with a mathematical framework?

I love that you said this. >After all, Turing very explicitly modeled it after the activity of a mathematician working with a notebook. The read head represents the eyes of the mathematician scanning the notebook for symbols, the write h

I dont follow. What are "actual" objects? Everything we conceptualize is some abstraction of data. We the see the world in trained concepts. A "door" for example isn't a fundamental object of the universe. Its a col

You make a very interesting point. Human understanding and logic can be very rationally explained. A judge can for example give a very though response of exactly why they made their verdict. I think that would be an excellent benchmark for

Not sure I agree in this regard. We are after all, aiming to create a mental model which describes reproducible steps for creating general intelligence. That is, the product is ultimately going to be some set of abstractions or another. I

I'm not expert and I don't know anything unfortunately. It is something I have spent countless hours walking around my room and pondering myself though for the last 3-4 years. I think I have some interesting ideas and I would love

I remember getting a lot of flak for saying a purely statistical framework is not going to achieve human level intelligence, but I still firmly believe that. I also believe the path forward is research in knowledge representation, and even

Check out the ARC benchmark. https://lab42.global/arc/ Iirc, humans get something like 80% on the test, and the best performing AI models are at 25%

Wanted to add: This isn't to say that something like this can't make its own cool instrument, but as to learning the piano, no matter how good the tech is, its always going to be an imitation of the real thing. Which isn't to

The weight of the keys are an extremely important factor. Pianos and even good digital pianos have hammer action keys. You have no way of control the volume with this. I don’t think digital will ever replace a real piano.

Does it though? With the current file system, you can only reasonably see a couple functions. You have a project directory and tabs for navigation. Imagine you had features like zooming, being able to click on nodes to expand them, tabs, ct

This seems more like a matter of having more tooling because 99.999% of programming has been text based. If we spent the time building tools for visual coding it’s possible we’d be able to do way more. Just thinking about diffing for exampl

It’s a ridiculous statement. Any corporation can say their goal is to make their product available to as many people as possible. I love how transparent it makes it though that these guys live in a bubble and you shouldn’t take their belief

Eh Java/js or whatever developers working on user applications can be very user minded simply by the fact that they work on a lot of user facing applications. I’ll redirect the user if it makes sense to me as a product. I don’t buy it

It’d be nice if it was animated but if it helps the order for the time in the tree should be: Higher nodes all occur before any of their lower nodes. Within the same depth, lefter nodes occur before righter nodes. So you can kinda visualize

Im confused. You can already set up your own fediverse server, just as you can host your own personal blog. Decentralization is just a parameter of how many people choose to join an existing server or create their own.

100% agree. I think Reddit is a huge propaganda machine in itself. The most ironic thread I’ve seen was a headline about how Republicans were more susceptible to propaganda, with every comment of course being 3-10 words amounting to “oh yea
