Many states have the capability to shoot down the satellites if they violate local rules, but AFAIK whether they would actually be willing to do that is unknown.

You might enjoy looking into nix and nixos. It’s designed to make that workflow as bulletproof as possible. One of my coworkers maintains a github repo that describes his exact system, and can create a sandbox that behaves the exact same as

I watched the first 5 minutes of that video and it just seems like someone talking about something they’re interested in, in a relatively normal way. He’s definitely a spaceflight fan but I didn’t see anything that unusual in the part I wat

It would be nice if pull requests and issues were integrated into git somehow, to avoid centralization like this.

Even when I order in person at the local Thai place (there’s no wait service, you just order and they call your name when your food is ready), the person at the counter always asks “do you want to leave a tip?” They also do this when I get

Great read. One thing you may be interested to know: when do you need paxos or similar, and when can you get away with gossip and CRDTs? the answer is that the set of domains that can be expressed using CRDTs is exactly the set of monotonic

This is a misunderstanding. The goal of cryptocurrencies is not to process transactions. The goal is to order transactions. The order is the hard part. (Notice that if I have one ETH, and I submit a transaction to send alice an ETH and to

That’s actually a good question and most bitcoin people don’t know the answer. Bitcoin actually does solve a real technical problem but it’s kind of subtle. The problem is that an SQL database isn’t distributed and trustless, but bitcoin wa

Wow, I'm the exact same way. I basically never get anything done before 12 but I'm perfectly happy working until 10pm. I wish I could work earlier because it really disrupts my family life.

I agree, toxic misandry or internalized misandry would be much clearer.

Toxic masculinity seems straightforwardly like misandry to me. Someone saying "you're not a real woman unless you're skinny" would obviously be considered misogynistic, so someone saying "you're not a real man

I think you’re absolutely right here. I’ve noticed that there’s already an analogous concept to “toxic masculinity” for women, which is “internalized misogyny”. An example of internalized misogyny is when women believe they have to be rail-

I don’t get the “I can’t tell what’s clickable” complaint. I just opened up spotify and it’s obvious what’s clickable and what isn’t. Same for gmail. I don’t remember having any issue learning how to use these either.

I don't think so. I think the issue is that people don't multiply correctly. A 1 in 1000 chance of death is actually very high, it just doesn't seem high because 1/1000 seems like a small number. But a small number (1&#x
