You should look at https://monte.readthedocs.io/en/latest/ , and potentially add a new category for capability-based programming languages (other ones would be E or Pony)

eBPF is its own language as well that is (more or less) a subset of C, is my understanding, so presumably they can apply some of the same optimization / analysis to it as they would C code, right?

Presumably it means you can write your eBPF source code and have it get compiled through GCC (meaning you get all of its optimizations, architecture targets, etc).

It's also more satisfying, and you often end up with a better understanding of things if you try to deduce the solution to a problem before just typing in something you might not really understand (and potentially breaking shit).

I would start by asking the question without mentioning scaling at all, and see how they respond. If they immediately jump to using a fancy data structure like a suffix array, but they don't ask any questions about how critical perform

FWIW, even highly accomplished software developers / hackers like Jonathan Blow[1] have said that in almost every case, you should just use an array as your data structure (or some variation of an array), unless you actually have a goo

I've noticed that as I produce more projects and more code, I often turn to searching my own stuff before I search google. I will do an `ag --python foo.bar` before I will search google, because if I wrote the original code it's e

I've had people tell me all of the extra bloat/slowness in modern software is because it has more features, and because accessibility / localization is a thing more often. I'm not sure I actually believe that's true

Just read this book, IMO https://www.amazon.com/G%C3%B6dels-Proof-Ernest-Nagel/dp/081... It's only 160 pages and gives what seems to be a good explanation of the basics.

A huge chunk of our economy is real-estate and finance[1], so that's not too surprising. Everyone thinks the path to getting rich is to buy houses / condos. They're in for a nasty surprise I think. It's never a good idea

Correct me if I'm wrong, but these drivers wouldn't be merged into the kernel tree itself, right? They would be written as modules. I doubt any of the core developers would feel comfortable reviewing Rust code at this time.
