Well, the Cloud Server is basically a VM that you have full root access to, so yeah install apache and mysql, varnish whatever and off you go. But performance seemed better than the equivalent AWS instances that I tried, and I've had no out

Rackspace Cloud has been good for me. Rackspace Cloud Sites not so much. Seemingly random errors coming from the infrastructure level, not much fun to debug.

Yes, he picked a fight. This is an effective PR method, though it would be better if it wasn't. It will make some people rally to his cause more, and it will turn some people off (likely the ones who wouldn't buy the cars anyway). If you wa

I doubt they orchestrated the original article. Their choice is pick a fight or let the article stand. Picking a fight looks like the better choice to me, though personally I have no interest in reading someone else's bunfight.

The experience with Top Gear has probably influenced the reaction here. I don't find it childish to strongly defend your product if you believe a journalist has written a hack job on it.

Diesel also needs special considerations in colder weather (the fuel becomes too viscous at lower temperatures). Just a different set of problems to petrol, not a dealbreaker imo.

The bystander effect. My pet theory is that most people are followers rather than leaders, but I'd love to see some researched opinion on this.

Have you got a plain english source for the "defamation even if true" claim? I know that truth is certainly a defence against defamation in the UK, which has a well deserved reputation as an easy place to sue for defamation.

Github costs just over $1 per repo per month. If the projects you're consulting on generate less revenue than this you've got bigger problems than Github's pricing.

Is there a reason you wouldn't use public github repos for your npm modules?

The line is when you're talking to your friends, that's where you can try out your 'edgy' jokes. These kind of jokes are completely out of place in a professional environment.

Civil disobedience is just the refusal to co-operate with an unjust law. What you do after that is just tactics.

Your claim is that he would have faced a maximum of 2 years, which differs substantially from what Swartz's own defence have claimed. Now, if these sources of yours had provided their opinions before Aaron's suicide then I'd be more incli

Your beliefs on the length of Swartz's possible jail term are contradicted by the US Department of Justice themselves. "AARON SWARTZ, 24, was charged in an indictment with wire fraud, computer fraud, unlawfully obtaining information from a

"the conduct of the prosecutors was close to standard procedure" This is part of the problem. It is standard procedure and it needs to be changed. Firing those who've acted too aggresively will help to change the way prosecutors operate.

Yup, as other poster noted this would result in charges against the owner in the UK too. You can't use deadly force against someone for theft in most civilised countries.
