You have to frame your rate in terms that demonstrate the value you'll be providing. Eg you could say you'll only be working 20 billable hours per week and suddenly it sounds like they will be getting some of your time for free. The rest

It's not impossible to get your foot in the enterprise door, I've built several solutions for one particular client. If you've got a contact who trusts you then you could certainly pitch solutions to them, and the prices you can charge are

It's still a tricky choice though. By going with Flash you're tying yourself into a dying technology which may not be such a hot choice if you're building a business [1] I'd still try to go with js/html and shim away as best I could for old

Google wouldn't be able to intercept a peer to peer connection, isn't that one of the strengths here?

Out of interest, and not trying to be snarky, but do you have a solution in place for mobile as well? If it we me and the choice was between supporting older browsers or supporting mobile, mobile would win out.

I think the cash economy is much larger than people just buying drugs. Estimates of the size of shadow economies are between 14% and 22% of GDP in the developed world. [1] I'm just guessing that's significantly larger than the drug trade. I

Why would they not have a config folder which uses .htaccess to protect everything inside? That would close this vulnerability without affecting convenience.

It would make the CMSs harder to deploy, security gets traded off for convenience.

Some people don't like having everything they do tracked, just on principle. Also, drugs aren't the only black market trade.

In my experience the work involved in porting your site to the next version is equivalent to the work involved in just rebuilding from scratch. And this is something you have to do every 2 years if you want to be able to use any of the la

Drupal is good if you (or your client) can be satisfied with something that gets you 80% of the way there. If you need that last 20% then it is possible to make it work but isn't going to be time/cost effective. There's also a kind of s

The authors are not just Automattic though, everyone who has contributed code has done so under the assumption that the code is GPL. Automattic have just as much responsibility to respect the wishes of everyone who contributed to the source

Yes that's it. But if the terms of the hosting contract limit what you can do with the code then in it's not GPL. They distribute the css, in that they let us edit it, but they limit what we can do with it. Not GPL.
