Snap isn't yet at the level of Django or Ruby on Rails. If you're looking for a Haskell web framework with more of those features you should check out Yesod.

If your values are very small Riak is probably a good replacement for S3. If your values are large then S3 is probably better than Riak.

Even if you can make an argument that it is not less secure I would still recommend being able to run the same binaries in production as you do in test. Having a staging system that is as close as feasible to your production system is wond

Building once and deploying the binaries everywhere is standard practice everywhere I know of. If you have subtle differences between libraries on different machines you should fix that rather than recompiling your code on each one. Remov

I haven't used a 42s, but the 50g is an excellent calculator and I used it quite a bit in college. I did lots of work with matrices and it is by far the best calculator I've ever used for that purpose.

Availability zones are different for different accounts, so for me it's eu-west-1b. You can log into the console and under the EC2 tab it will show you the status of each of your availability zones.

Have you tried Haskell? Why haven't you tried Erlang? They're both good choices for writing applications that handle making and receiving thousands of concurrents requests because they have very fast lightweight threads and good exception

Did you read the Wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hadoop ? It's a framework for processing large datasets in a distributed environment using the MapReduce algorithm from Google's paper http://labs.google.com/papers/mapreduce.

South Dakota has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country and during my few visits to the state I didn't find any problems with the culture there. Why do you think it isn't doing well culturally and economically?

What I'd like to see is a tiling window manager to go along with the full screen apps. I love XMonad on Linux, but some apps just don't work very well. Maybe if applications are written to be full screen they'll work well tiled.

My point was more that "his" is grammatically correct and didn't need fixing than that "their" is wrong, but why is using "his" offensive? I see "her" used often as neuter pronoun and I have never found it offensive even though I'm not fem

The correct pronoun is "his" since "their" is plural. While there is some debate about this "his" is still acceptable as a neuter pronoun.

To me that quote sounds like Netflix didn't have enough time between when it found out the capacity was needed and when the capacity was needed to build datacenters. So they had a problem with data center build latency and not throughput.

That makes sense. I wonder if something like the free realm transfers in World of Warcraft would make sense. Maybe the AZ mapping randomization keeps things balanced but encouraging multi-az deployments seems like a good idea.

I'd recommend the Qt framework. It makes writing C++ much less painful and you can style the interface via CSS. The Qt Creator IDE nice and you can use Xcode or Visual Studio. It also has a helpful and knowledgeable community.
