What makes you think BP isn't the best organization to do this? It definitely has the motivation and experience, so I don't see what else you want from them.

This doesn't seem like a problem for Apple. Apple doesn't need more developers or faster apps. I guess that if the reason people weren't buying Android devices because of slow apps this could be a threat, but I haven't heard anyone say th

The function was always setting the memory to 0 instead of what was passed in. I think most uses of memset are to initialize memory to 0, but any other use would have had unexpected results.

I think part of the problem is that there aren't enough people who want a really fast internet connection. Verizon's FiOS subscription rate is about 10% even though it's significantly faster in both directions than almost all alternatives.

I don't think that one state having a conservative bias instead of a liberal bias in it's public schools is going to cause the downfall of anyone's education. The changes mentioned in the article aren't even that extreme, particularly when

It takes more than a few lines of code to make sure everything works. You now have to test on both kinds of filesystems which doubles the amount of testing you have to do.

Does it just not work or does it detect that you have a case sensitive file system and not install? Most of Blizzards games work fine on a case-sensitive file system but the installers don't so you have to install on a different machine an

Heroku says one dyno is 1/4 of a CPU core so I'd guess it's much less processing power than a Linode 360. How many columns you can insert into a 5MB DB depends on the size of the columns, but definitely not enough for a site with many user

Hosting costs will be much less with a VPS. For one CPU core with of processing and 20GB of storage it's $123 per month from Heroku and for $79.95 per month you can get a Linode 1440. However, if you need to scale easily Heroku can handle

I think it's because these things are hard to do in C. The first week of C is all about dealing with the language rather than solving problems. Any problem can be solved in a functional language, so I'm not sure what you're asking.

Are you saying that Haskell is unreadable? I've found Haskell to be very readable. Complicated code is much easier to understand in Haskell due to the limited side effects. Maybe people who know C find Haskell harder to understand, but I

What makes Cocoa and Cocoa Touch really nice isn't that parts of them are delightful, it's that all of the parts work really well together. They were written to take advantage of Objective-C and the tools were built for using them. Interf
