Criticism at times can be good, but cutting, humiliating pointless criticism never is. Also the fact that that didn't give her any feedback as to why it is was so wrong , amplifies the fact that it wasn't just criticism. Mob-mentality is o

For some reason I don't want to install Steam on my Ubuntu partition. I use it to get work done. If I feel like playing a game I just boot into my Windows 7 partition. Having a "work boot" has done wonders for my productivity.

As someone who has dabbled in UX, I wouldn't call "HN is ugly" , HN is minimal, functional and highly usuable. HN is lightweight without tons of JS to handle interactions, etc. HN in a sense is well designed, if by design you mean its usab

This is a well established paradigm among designers. Different textures to represent different states. Designing Actionable buttons requires gradients and shadows.

What I'd really like to see in iOS UI in the future would be uniformity in design choices. Many of Apple's own apps adopt different design styles instead of adopting a single design language. Also, cleaning up "over-designed" skeuomorphic i

Not many know about http://www.badger.com . What I love them is that they're a no-frills registrar. Been pretty happy with them. P.S. Most of their front-end code is on Github.

I've been following Andrew Kim since 2010 (since his HTC Concept). Andrew's designs and general design sense has always inspired me. Looking forward to great things from Andrew.

This reminds me of a relevant quote, and its relevance increases as you dissect it. “Four things come back not: the spoken word; the sped arrow; time past; the neglected opportunity.” - Umar ibn al-Khattab, Caliph (AD 592-644)

It isn't just Ed's comment that contrasts, most prolific commenters' tone was downright acerbic. Some calling him to face what he was directly responsible for and some going as far as siding with the prosecution.

I've always wondered why suicide is so common among us young programmers. (Ilya, Bill Zeller, etc) As programmers we're able to control how our code behaves, but life on the other hand has too many variables, most of which are beyond one's
