I have it on dual boot. Normal desktop applications will work on Windows 8, but if I want to make a Metro version of that app, it has to go through the MS certification and can only be sold on the Windows store. Metro is where major Win 8 i

I would like to point out that it isn't actually the latter. If your app is a "Metro-Style Windows 8 app", then you can't sell it on your own, you have to put it up on the Windows Store or make a desktop application if you want to sell it o

I'd been wanting to build Windows apps and had been working on one for the past 6 months. I happened to be invited to a MS event for Windows 8 and as excited as I was to be there, I was disappointed to learning that "Metro-style" apps can't

Thanks for making the change. I just pledged $15 for a license. I'll make good on my promise and spread the word around my networks, and hope others who pledged the least for a license payback in similar ways too. All the best Chris.

While I certainly agree with RMS's reasons for being so committed to his philosophy, I just don't know if it would still be possible to practice in today's world. Almost every system out there, free software or otherwise is monetized one wa

Thanks for sharing this Chaz. Could you say which of these do you use on a daily basis?

Interesting, How useful/reliable is Office365? I've gone the Google Docs route, it works but wish it was better.

Wow, that's a lot of useful apps. Quite a few of them look interesting, Dialshield in particular can be a lifesaver!

Don't. School is really important. YC can wait. Messing up the present for an uncertain future is not really the way to do things. And such poorly thought-out decision taking skills might eventually impact how (potential)investors would thi

I'd be happy to help. But currently i'm building a product which is to be launched by Q2 of this year. Do drop me a mail at ameen.in at google's electronic mail service, I'll get in touch with you if & when I'm free.

I've struggled with this question myself, and while ultrabooks offer a few hundred dollars of savings, a Macbook Air makes more sense for me(personally) in the long run. Reasons: I've started to develop iOS apps, and I need an iOS device an

One thing that has puzzled me intensely is how did they get Sony to license the XDR for the PS3 in the first place. Rambus is nothing but a joke. In fact, the XDR2 has no takers.

Isn't that what Google exactly did whilst promoting Google Chrome? Any search for the string "browser" turns up a Chrome ad. Some would argue that this is relatively an anti-competitive stance.

To clarify, I wanted to understand the aspirations (apart from the obvious needs of Google) of the G+ team when they set out to build a new social network. Apparently they've been focussing on public conversations and this is a niche that h

Wow. Didn't know about this. Sheds a new light on why Google employees blogged a lot on G+ whilst having their own personal blogs.

There always seems to be noise around the networks he's on. Also, this wasn't just about Scoble rather than having him as an example to try and understand Google+'s content strategy.

Agree. Although it was embarrassing for Google in the first few days of the beta that Mark Zuckerburg had the highest number of followers on Google+, without even a single post.

Sorry for pointing this out, Orkut*. Also, a lot of things have changed since then with Larry at the helm. He is focussed on eradicating bloat (tons of Google products that were recently culled), and making sure whatever exists, succeeds. A

My question stems from the fact that there was a conscious decision to give out invites to people producing content (Bloggers/Photographers/etc.) and there could've been some cajoling (monetary or otherwise) in some cases to get them over t

I'm an outsider to whom webOS appealed a lot to. I was an iPhone 2G user, and to me webOS was a totally new approach to mobile UI. The Cards-based multitasking model was (for a mobile OS) at that time revolutionary. But I can understand how
