Carmack was a damn good game designer. Considering the reception and the financial performance of RAGE (id's latest release), I'd say he isn't that good a game designer he once was.

I can understand if they cannot learn quickly but I haven't come across or ever heard of hires unwilling to train. Why would entry-level employees be unwilling to train?

Does a bad hire explicitly mean those who engage in office politics, lower the morale, engage in fraud, malice, etc. Or Does it mean an entry level dev/intern who is just learning the ropes and might commit a few mistakes out of genuin

FYI, Mishary Al Afasy isn't popular just in Kuwait, he's popular through out the entire Middle East.

It's just that the hardware that I'm currently running the same game on fell short of the minimum system requirements sort of put me off. Guess I'll have to report back after checking it.

GTA / Madden | Fifa / CoD | Battlefield / Mario-like platformers are on iOS right now. Most of them quite decent. They'll get better if an official Controller (or) an API is launched. I think there's an opportunity

Truth be told, it's worth that much. One of the best games on a tablet ever. Not just visually, but the entire experience - Gameplay, Character progression, Replayability, etc.

Sometimes its based on revenue, growth potential or growth itself, etc. Although, This seems to be an acquihire to get to the technology and employees. And the product AFAIK, didn't really get the traction they were hoping for.

Based on most of their recent acquisitions (Tumblr, Summly, Qwiki) I'm inclined to believe that they're working on some sort of an automated(?) product for the publishing industry (New Media, perhaps). I just wish Yahoo's acq

Most people didn't realize that MS was pushing the envelope with their purported "Cloud processing tech", which was supposed to be based on Remote processing of a few threads (A.I., Physics, etc) and even had a new programmin

Anti-consumer? The fact that you could share a game (either on a disc or a digital download) with your family members or the fact that you didn't need to deal with optical media? This could've been a brilliant console had MS addre

I was actually looking forward to a console that made sense in an always connected environment. No more need to deal with discs. As a steam gamer, this would've been the console of my choice. I don't think I'll be getting any

Used games IMHO are a menace. How many software companies give away transferable licenses? (apart from Open-source licenses) It isn't fair to the publisher/developer. I'd rather have seen a price change to facilitate more own

If this is true, there isn't going to be the announced "Family Share plan" or the "Disc-less" operation. Also, the fact that a few consoles might not be connected to the Internet means, MS can't really do cloud

Once you start getting vengeful there's no going back. And if I must say so myself, Apple has failed at Flat icon design - Heck, even the DesignModo guys had better icons than the ones Apple put out. Apple seems to be losing its edge.

Unfortunately, if more people start using the Internet the NSA database will inevitably grow. I wonder how long it'll take the whole human population is covered by the NSA.

I'd say it still hasn't branched out. It is very much an "internet" company. So anything related to the internet (and data nowadays) is somehow going to benefit their bottom-line.

Ian has nailed down what's exactly wrong with iOS 7's icons. But misses a very important point - The redesign has largely been pointless. Windows Phone chose "Flat design" and ran with it, the "Live Tile" was i

Congrats Faizan. Wonderful to see this come out of India, a soft target for free services. Keep at it guys. The first few months of running a paid service is crucial, once you hit critical mass, there's gonna be no looking back.

While I agree with part of your comment, it sparks of victimisation rather than anything. In today's multi-platform market, shoehorning a game into a system that's weaker than existing consoles is going to be painful. The fact that Ninten

Yeah, I mean RAM is a crucial part. I'd be willing to be the extra for that. Considering the leaps in RAM tech, we'd better see >8 GB RAM on devices shipping this year.

True that. I tried getting into the whole Vim/Emacs war. While Vim seemed relatively easy (I already had some experience with Vi) Emacs was a chore to work with. Sublime Text gets the job done, fast and painlessly.
