I liked this piece but I'm more blown away by Chekhov's insight into the human condition. I hadn't heard of the 'little hammer' concept before. In a way I think Covid (and social media, like the author argues) has b

This is awesome, you seem to be in touch with what your users want and then work to deliver it (whereas with many side projects I see it's more the developer building exactly what they want). I wish you much success!

A good illustration of this is riding the NYC subway. I think most people would choose a slower-moving local line if it shows up before the more efficient express line, even if the express would get you to your destination sooner.

> a clear signal to charge these customers a lot more money. Interesting, can you explain this a little more? Some of our customers chomp at the bit for particular features, and when we can we give them early access. We do not charge th

I deal with a lot of the standard issues you might hear of -- easily distracted by the novel, inability to concentrate for more than maybe 4 minutes at a time. That's annoying but I have found a couple ways to manage it and still funct

I know you're asking for practical advice and for that I don't have much to offer. But I do notice a lot of assumptions and judgments in your language which may not be true. There is no such thing as a 'dead end' in a ca

Thanks, this is helpful to keep in mind. I somewhat arbitrarily decided I needed to do 2 per week, on Tuesdays and Fridays (why? who knows!). Perhaps I will dial it back and take the time to just make the best one I can every week or so.

Oops... literally using a USB mic + Audacity! I come out sounding quiet and muted. And the acoustics of the room aren't great so it's echoey.... Can this be solved by better recording software?

Thank you! I am going to do this. I feel this pressure to just put one out there but I can't get the first one exactly right. By doing 5 or so I think my perfectionism will start to wane, and naturally will be getting that practice

I know exactly what you mean about the shift when recording. It sounds like my personality and all the passion and excitement I have about the topic totally disappear once I'm recording. So strange! Good to know practicing will help. O

As a fellow LGBTQ I'm surprised you feel held back by passing as a 'regular dude'. Though it sounds like you work at a bigger company with actual diversity initiatives? My experience is with smaller companies, with no such ef

This is obvious if you have a dog, but cool to see it studied. My dog is a velcro dog, he follows me everywhere. If I change direction he will too. If I start to run he will too. One amusing thing on our walks is he will walk confidently, d

Very nice, congratulations on your launch! As a lifelong runner I go through phases where I want to train for a specific race, and phases where I just want to go out and enjoy the experience without worrying about speed or distance. This ap

And this: > Is there anything we can say for sure? How about: Yes, you can get more efficient at running. You probably can’t get more efficient at cycling—at least not by an amount that’s worth spending a lot of time fretting about.

I agree, but then if this is just looking at the physiological effects of training, and not the accoutrements of training, I think you would need to hold the bike constant. Perhaps you can get more efficient at cycling with better frame geo

Where did you get that number? I think it really varies. One of the products I manage is a lower price point but the implementation and use cases are complex and different for each customer. It does not make sense to enable self-service imp

I'd love to know more what you mean by 'life-affirming.' Based on context, sounds like you mean, be an authentic person, don't sugar coat things, be imperfect, show vulnerabilities. Is that right? I find myself drawn to

This may not be exactly what you mean, but I worked for a successful startup that chose to cut certain costs in favor of others. I appreciated this practice--no excessive waste, only spending on what felt like mattered. My salary was above

Another vote for the Forerunner 245 (with music). Solid, reliable, great battery life. Superior to Apple Watch in all the categories I care about.
