I stared at the screenshot trying to figure out what was special for a moment before I "got it". UX enhancement that subtle...just made me smile. The subtle hint that the label is clickable using the hover is truly a nice touch.

I'm not buying the idea that a social graph has long term value. Relationships come and go. People die. People delete their Facebook accounts. A social graph is just a digital incarnation of a yearbook. I don't recall yearbooks being valuab

Facebook? Why should I sign into Mark Zuckerberg’s site to download a presentation...somewhere else...it still felt like a kind of category error. This was Facebook pushing its nose too far into someone else’s business. That's exactly wha

1. Learning to love learning new languages. I have a few pet projects which are slightly longer than hello world that I practice with. 2. Accepting that code I wrote a month ago sucks. If it doesn't then I haven't improved/developed. That's

> "Granted, there could be some confusion if a head is contemplated as a gift item, but that's a risk I'm willing to take." That's why it fun to read Scott's stuff. Right there in the middle of a 'serious' discussion on finding a new

Ze Frank summed up the way I deal with ideas as I don't want to get addicted to brain crack. http://www.zefrank.com/theshow/archives/2006/07/071106.html 1. Take a shower and think it over. 2. Tell a few friends I trust. 3. Create the quic

All news is biased. It is the essence of news and reporting. Whoever is recording has chosen to show you what you see and hear. If someone is telling you something it is biased. When I'm buying a book at amazon.com, I read the One, Three an

By your statement....you are no rockstar. I would argue that...you are no rockstar YET. You need at least two things to become a Genius/Rockstar/whatever: 1. Challenging work that forces you to improve your c0ding ski11z. 2. Time. There is

I've been a programmer for almost 20 years. When I code into the wee hours of the night I usually do so without realizing that so much time has passed. I get lost in the act of writing the code. But to get lost in the code you first have to

I too always avoided Scribd due to its slowness. I generally kept looking for the original pdf on google rather than suffer at Scribd. The new HTML5 version is awesome. Thank you Scribd for dumping Flash. I look forward to reading many pdfs

I say kudos if they can pull it off. Ignoring the possible meddling of the various device manufacturers, they have their work cut out for them. I want to be optimistic here; it is just I've never seen such re-engineering done before for any

Someone needs to tell the Android Team that User Experience isn't a feature. It is fundamental design decisions early on that determine what the user experience is. That's like arguing a poorly designed home will function better after a fre

GCD, Klang, LLVM, GC are all huge advancements at the basement level. Apple's language and APIs weren't the problem in the days of Copland. It was the kernel/Core OS. I'm not sure the case of the sky is falling can be made at this time...to

Straw man arguments are boring. This article is just whoring for page views. 1. AT&T != iPhone. 2. People don't care about AppStore policy. 3. Flash isn't ready on ANY platform as demonstrated by others (search on youtube)

You have to ask the hard questions. Why are you getting 10x worse deals? What is wrong with your product or value proposition that is requiring you to give such deep discounts? It is never just one thing. It could be you are selling at the
