When Warby Parker was first getting off the ground, the idea of buying glasses online was completely new. They've done a great job of validating the model, but now they're facing a lot of competition and I'm not sure their brand is enough

I'm not trying to be an ass, but I'm actually legitimately curious where our misunderstanding is. My understanding is that, all other things being equal, when government/government controlled agencies purchase government debt ("cause"), the

It doesn't matter how the bonds are obtained by Social Security or the Fed -- no matter what it affects interest rates. If Social Security weren't buying government bonds (ok, not technically treasuries), that same debt would be issued as T

Legitimately curious... what exactly is the intrinsic value of gold? Are you basing it's "intrinsic" value on its commercial value or something else? There are a number of metals that have much more useful applications than gold. From wha

The two largest holders of federal debt are the Fed and the Social Security trust. A big part of the reason interest rates are so low is because we're buying our own debt.

^This. I've lived in both SF and Austin. Austin is a bad ass city. In terms of quality of life, as a young and single male, it is a complete and total no brainer that Austin is better than SF. Better nightlife, more attractive women, ch

Right now in the US, interest rates on savings isn't keeping up with inflation. Not sure what macro-econ says about the sustainability of such a situation, but current fed policy is definitely penalizing savers in the short term.

The apples to apples comparison would be a responsive site versus two separate sites for mobile vs. non-mobile. In that case, I'm not sure its clear a responsive design is fundamentally more complex and expensive to build. In the latter c

In practice, I just don't think that's the case. The entire point of a responsive layout is that you don't have to test against every possible resolution - most responsive websites have 2, maybe 3 conceptual layouts. You can get sufficien
