I think I'm in the minority but I've never really seen the appeal. I've always much preferred chromes developer tools. Right click on anything and choose 'inspect element' to see what I mean.

What you're describing is called Spaced Repitition. There is software out there that capitalizes on this phenomenon, i.e. Anki and (shameless plug) http://www.cardmonkeyhq.com/ that I develop.

Agreed, I'm not taking the bait on this one. Personally I use (django|rails) but I haven't tried anything but $1 and don't want to.

I've been learning Japanese for about five years, but was a fluent speaker after about two. I have only a little bit of advice. - Try all the methods, see what sticks. Your learning style, basic knowledge/ability up until now will be differ

I'm a hipster rubyist and I've only ever used vim as a serious text editor. I'm sure there are other hipster rubyists who feel the same way.

Thanks, the landing page was a little rushed. I've added a little more text that should help make things clearer.

Clickable URL: http://www.cardmonkeyhq.com/ Heavily inspired by http://kanji.koohii.com/ and Anki, I've spent the past few months putting together a web-based flashcard review app. It's still very much a work in progress. If there's eno

I don't know about the OP, but organising your posts is a task for when you have reams and reams of content that is too diverse for one website. If it's a personal blog and no one is reading it and you have multiple interests, blog about th

I would suggest building and launching one of those web app ideas. It doesn't have to be brilliant. Doing so will a) give you the experience of completing a product from start to finish and b) probably give you a bunch of different ideas fo

My favourite variation: Some people, when confronted with a problem, think “I know, I'll use regular expressions.” Now they have three problems, the original problem, the regular expression, and dealing with the annoying developer who isn't

Whenever I see comparisons like this they're usually written by someone who prefers one over the other rather than 'a logical comparison of features'. This is evident in language like 'schizophrenic tableau of function names'. I prefer Ruby

£18,000 for a development position is absolutely horrendous. You can get 21k for a non university educated PHP developer position. With 8 years you could easily crack £35k if you spin your CV the right way.
