Well thanks! Lately I’ve been afraid of the page becoming too information-dense because there are so many features and edge-cases I need to let people know about. I’m really glad to hear that from you!

If opening the 80/443 port is such a nuissance in your setup, I would not bother with hosting from home and I'd just drop the website folder in Netlify Drop ( https://app.netlify.com/drop ) That's what I did fo

sanity.io sounds and looks awesome! I didn't know about it until now. I'm wondering if Sanity would be a good fit for creating static websites for other non-technical people but still give those people the power to update the cont

The HDMI port on most recent Mac devices uses a converter chip inside to convert the signal to DisplayPort internally. That chip has DDC/CI blocked in its firmware and there's no way to enable it.

Lunar ( https://lunar.fyi ) supports up to 3 hotkeys to switch input using DDC. Also the functionality is completely free, the Pro license isn’t needed if you only switch inputs and occasionally adjust brightness or volume. This m

I found Cmd-Tab to be too slow for me after coming from Windows where I used Win+number. I had to create a new app to scratch that itch: https://lowtechguys.com/rcmd I think the consistent shortcuts for switching between ta

Lunar can control the real backlight of the MacBook display by tapping into the private DisplayServices system framework. The app only supports integer values between 0 and 100 but the framework supports floating point values between 0 and

There is no way to get DDC working on that port. It’s probably locked in the chip firmware. All we can do is to provide software dimming using Gamma table alteration, or tell people to use the Thunderbolt ports instead.

Lunar can do that: https://lunar.fyi It’s free for manual brightness adjustments. Just make sure to use one of the Thunderbolt ports of the MacBook. And if it still doesn’t work, check if there’s any monitor setting that could b

When the new MacBook Pro came out this year, everyone was puzzled as to why the newly included HDMI port was only 2.0. Well it turns out they lied. It’s 2.1 after all! \s Jokes aside, it’s actually only 2.0 because internally they transmit

Damn, 4 hours! I just got into a bit of video editing because I had to do a real app demo for my new app, for it to be approved on the App Store ( https://lowtechguys/rcmd ) This should come in handy for the next app!

This is marvellous! I loved when YouTube recommended me some stuff about camera angles from Vox, or how interesting old 3D cameras worked. I didn’t really know how to search for this kind of content, this channel is gold!

When I first saw this product announced, I immediately wanted to replace my manual solution with it. I’ve been putting it off because other work had to be done, but now that I read this, I think I’ll stick with my current workflow for now.

I don't mean that edge cases are frequent, only that they're frequently asked about. The edge cases happen for less than 2% of my users, but there's a very high chance of receiving a complaint about that edge case. If I hav

Hi Vlad! Thanks for the kind words! The way I usually solve this name clash is with rcmd-rshift-T. So I would first press rcmd-ralt-T to assign T to the most used app (that for me would be Terminal). Then I would use: rcmd-T: to show&
