That doesn't make it mandatory. :) Your original phrasing is incorrect hence the confusion by the other persons' comment. It would be more accurate to call it a restriction.

Ah, I see. I thought they were completely different products, but it sounds like TrueNAS is an enterprise version of FreeNAS and this unification seems like it is just deprecating the FreeNAS name.

FF71 - default is also true. Edit - default for this config variable could be platform specific; the above is based on Windows 10. I'll check on my MacBook tonight.

I think a lot of the issues you've brought up regarding AMD CPUs are no longer relevant with Zen 3. Inter-core communication latency has been much improved with the larger caches and architecture improvements in Zen 3. Single threaded
