Well, not if - as the story suggests - the intellectual property is jointly owned by TechCrunch and Fusion Garage.

It doesn't matter if it's just a trickle. With enough trickles we can make a very nice river. That really depends. I'm not saying social change never happens from the bottom up, but for me, this pledge is just one step up from, say, an i

As for people not being driven by pledges, again, I am a professional engineer and I took an oath when I graduated. I have so far been true to it and I take it very seriously every day of my professional life. Yes, but you are most likely

The code is pretty damning, but before I get really outraged, a bit of context is always useful. Has anyone figured out where this graph has been used?

What do you suppose would be the odds of a literary theorist getting a parody of a physics paper published in a physics journal? Well, actually... http://pdos.csail.mit.edu/scigen/

I wasn't talking about low-quality sites, I was talking about low-quality (e.g. unfocused, or hard to monetize) traffic. I don't want to split hairs - yes, obviously, a song is not identical to a page view - but at a very basic level, both

To put that in perspective, $167 for 1 million plays is the equivalent of a CPM of $0.16 for an ad-supported web site. A bit on the low side, but $0.16 is in the right ballpark for a site with low-quality traffic. I think the question is:

To me, it's interesting that Apple doesn't seem to have performed an audit (or hell, a search&replace) after the first time this came up. Fool me once...

Like rdj said, that really depends on what you mean by small, focused, and successful. I've had moderate success with Facebook apps (~1 million users total), but I haven't touched the platform in about a year, so I might be a bit out of the

I think many tech blogs are the worst offenders, and go way overboard with widgets and third party services. Take the front page of TechCrunch - it weighs in at 508KB. Mashable gets to about 884KB before FireBug gives up in disgust. I can

The whole mobile advertising market is probably not much bigger than this, but it's growing, and AdMob is the clear leader. I suspect AdMob would be worth a lot more than this in a couple of years if left to its own devices, which is the b

It might be willful ignorance on my part, but I really want to believe that eHealth is the (unfortunate) exception, and not how IT usually works - even when we're talking about government contracts.

Overblown. It will likely move to a freemium model. Everyone made fun of Hulu before it launched, but it ended up being quite good - there's no reason to think they don't understand the impact of making it pay-only. http://gizmodo.com/53

And for the cynics in this thread: you only get to complain about MBA's if you can do their job better than they can. I'm not saying you can't, I'm just trying to be fair. I don't think that's fair. Someone definitely has the right to co
