Actually, you should use a period inside parentheses if the enclosed material is meant to stand alone as a sentence. By the way, there is no space before the exclaimation mark in American English. As for double spacing after a sentence, I h

Considering how the large corporations easily reach the annual cap (currently $6.5 Million per year until at least 2015), the footnote that the 10% maximum increase in royalties does not apply to the cap is a bit disconcerting.

Here's my (noobish) understanding: On Hacker News when you submit you have the option to include a clickable URL -or- text. The preferred thing to do is to include some text rather than the URL.

Too late. Seriously. The world got into H.264. We're here. It's it. What is WebM's fighting chance? Did you read the article? Do you have any counter points to Gruber's thesis? The web will continue to use H.264 and all Google is do

Chrome at least has the right click "Go to URL" contextual option... I'm constantly annoyed when other web browsers don't offer this obvious feature.

Wouldn't the solution be better approaches to ads? Something like AOL's Project Devil ( http://advertising.aol.com/creative/projectdevil ) seems to be the way web advertising should work going forward.

While this is clearly an opinion piece arguing for inclusion of H.264 in Chrome, I feel like this article actually does a great job of actually portraying most of the facts that affect both side of the argument. Certainly it feels like the

Good point, and true enough. I should have signed up using my Google account (I should still sign up using my Google account). I recently unearthed my AOL user database from the late 90s. Dropping it into a simple text editor, I get a ton

They send you an e-mail daily... one that you presumably actually look forward to getting. Surely they could add an advertisement to this e-mail if they wanted?

Phenomenal, simple idea. I, too, signed up. I can still dig up random LiveJournal entries that I wrote on a whim ten years ago. What would people here rate the chances of me being able to do the same with OhLife entries in ten years?

The version number was touted by tech blogs and other media, but not by the Chrome team themselves, a point which they made in response to a comment here on HN if I remember correctly.

Very neat idea! I know you didn't try posing the same way for every picture, but I wonder if you couldn't put together a video that shows every picture in sequence with your face centered to prevent too much jarring movement? I've always w

Watch the video. It's based on a Youtube clip of someone gently prodding adorable little kittens back into a box with a very soft mallet. No abuse here, and a valid enough inspiration for a quick game.

I wonder if 30daysyoanewhabit.com wouldn't be a better URL than habitualapp.com? Then again it does sound very infomercial-ish. I'm one of those people who won't use it as a Facebook thing. Give me a Twitter login and option to have my pro

I've just completed a Flickr 365 project, so I have a bit of feedback. First, you can't do this for free as you can only show publicly the last 200 photos without a pro account. With a pro account, you simply create a set for your 365 pro
