I have seen a couple of examples of UK PM David Cameron commenting prematurely on issues that he hasn't fully researched or understood, and as a result being wholly wrong, then having to back track, and BTW, getting clean away with it.

Air travel locked down by armed guards, searching and demanding identity, now trains. What's next, buses? Then what, UK levels of CCTV, face recognition motorway(freeway) cameras? Oh yeah, we Brits have those. What is the limit here, c

It would be quite a wheeze if countries started offering American (and UK) citizens political asylum, and favorable conditions. Long been said that the US is a brain drain for other countries, well, reverse it. Perhaps that could be a great

The core basic legitimate reason is to verify what is said with what is actually happening; to discover the genuine intentions of the opposition. So, olde days, USSR says "we have no intention of starting WW3", and US spying would

I don't think so. The US is supposed to be an ally of many, if not the majority, of UN members. China is not. So from, say a Spanish POV, China, not regarded as an ally, spying is expected, but an ally industrially spying is more diffi

Yeah, they would normally have a pop at those papers. So, with in the world of my theory, I'd say this is a Tory paper echoing the "good spying" line.

Until the the UK gov confirms political leaking, its is all we have. So, either we have a bit of a chat and see what we can work out, or we say nothing because its conjecture and so forth. Are you suggesting that we cant have that conversat

Well, here is my theory. Could well be missing something, or a hell of a lot, but here goes.... First thing is that my impression has been that the Independent has so far been pretty much parroting the Guardian articles. Now, I read this ar

I'd say its the Guardian being responsible. The idea is to hold government to account, not risk people on the ground.

As you have quoted, its the Independent who claims there are agreements in place, not the Guardian or Greenwald. So, it's the Independent who need to clarify their claim, the Guardian employee has flat out denied it. How clear does it

There is no way a person at Manning's level could be expected to cherry pick effectively. How can he decide what is in the public interest, know what evidence is enough, know what evidence is dangerous, and so on. Yes to a point, but w

On one level, it reads like right wing think tank propaganda, given that the conservative party didn't oppose many of the things labour did. Indeed, one reason labour won power was that it adopted conservative economic policy. Old soci
