Someone please explain the difference between this a FB's Platform. My guess - Prototypes = useful extensions of FB and Apps = fun & games?

What usually gets overlooked is that Virgin Galactic is only initially for space tourism. The larger goal is intercontinental travel, to connect various spaceports together through sub-orbital flights. It's not on wikipedia anywhere, I watc

It's a nice long compilation of interviews with several designers, broken up by topic. I love this "talking shop" approach rather than just throwing up 50 screenshots in a random list - I can always visit one of the CSS gallery sites if I w

Blueprint has vertical baseline-alignment built in and is a bit older, but this looks worth a try as well. I'm not sure what's up with the proliferation of CSS frameworks lately though, do we really need that many of them?

I'm an on and off again fan of classical music and I got turned on this week to Amazon's "99 most essential" series. It's a pretty good deal - for anywhere from $6 to $9, you get almost a hundred classical songs in a DRM-free format. Someti

The number of hours to accomplish X goes down as the skill of the individual goes up. I wouldn't assume that they continue to solve for X - you can solve harder problems as your skill goes up too, so hours can be a good way to judge diffi

The best tip I can give non-designers or non-artists is to read Dan Roam's Back Of The Napkin. It's about how to use basic sketching skills to both capture and express your ideas. We're holding a discussion on it on Sept 10th at our next UX

Agreed that we agree - I limited the discussion to #1 because that's how the blog post described it. #2 is important as well, but honestly, I find that worrying too much about #2 upfront makes it too easy for coders to go down blind alleys

I'm not sure that "design" is necessary up-front. Most programmers aren't. And it's often a tug-of-war between designers and programmers to gain respect for their roles: have a designer always come later in the process and you'll get more

You can, but that doesn't work very well. Sure it does, just along a different metric - visual cohesiveness. It's a big difference between design and programming - you can and probably should slice off pieces of functionality to implement

I agree that the desktop is annoying, so that's why I forked out cash for Deskshade, from the makers of Espresso (a Coda competitor). A simple hotkey combo (for me it's command+return) triggers the show/hide. http://macrabbit.com/deskshade

What I like more than anything is that you're 1) creating your own tools for collaboration and 2) trying to solve design problems. It makes me think of 37signals and how basecamp was born, and also makes me a bit jealous because I fall into
