I feel that at this point the bottleneck is our ability to safely and reversibly enhance human bodies with all of the amazing technology we've created in the past few decades. Maybe this has always been the case, but it seems ever more so n

I think we all share the frustration of research being unable to give us conclusive answers about what works and what doesn't. Seems like good portions of nutritional studies over the past 100 years were either misinterpreted or even influe

Some people claim college is the new HS, a new baseline that everybody is reaching. Why shouldn't hiring managers work with that baseline?

On the plus side, seems like high PPI screens are getting more popular, thank gosh. Next stop desktop monitors, or at least so I hope.

I wonder if JS is perhaps a bit too high level and internally complex to be a great first programming language to be taught to people with no CS fundamentals. Fully internalizing front-end development is no trivial task, and teaching JS out

I'm almost certain that every MMO since UO has claimed to be about having the universe's story be written by the players themselves. It never turns out to be true, with exception to maybe EVE.

Are there any good guides out there for starting out Postgres 9.x+ administration, including proper safe deployment on a VPS, maintenance and all sorts of good practices as far as tools are concerned?

I remember seeing old videos of this tech used inside a ketchup bottle. I wonder if we're going to see food-safe versions soon on products like toothpaste and peanut butter :)

If they soon give out the OS for free, or dirt cheap, then they will ultimately only care about the applications they sell, meaning that the host OS won't matter nearly as much.

Is the URL of that document pretty reliable or is it not really meant for the long term? I'm thinking of whether there would be issues with using a custom domain for it. I currently host a static website from S3, and I still have to pay a c

I see, thanks for explaining. Sounds somewhat analogous to what we currently get from Crashlytics, it's definitely a very useful service.

There's a Stanford compilers class on Coursera. You can supplement it with the dragon book. Another book goes well with it, one of my favorites: Programming Language Pragmatics 3rd ed.

I'm there with you. I'd proverbially kill for something like a 27" Thunderbolt with a 260+ PPI that I could actually afford. I don't think it's happening for a long time though.

Thanks for explaining that, very instructive. I'm not sure I'm quite ready to invest that kind of time into the transition, but it's something to keep in mind for sure. It arguably looks a lot less straightforward than development on Apple
