Twitter's valuation is down to $19B, which is what Facebook paid for WhatsApp. I wouldn't be surprised if Facebook would make a bid for Twitter at this price, even though FB+Insta combo seems to be killing them. I can't beli

AirBnB is really two businesses in one: 1. A Hotel disruptor - letting people crash on your couch or empty bedroom. This is the original idea as per pitch deck. 2. Holiday Rental / VRBO / HomesAway competitor - renting out an ent

This exactly. VRBO and HomesAway are the businesses that AirBnB is really competing with, and they've been going for ages. Hotels are for shorter stays, and generally are quite price competitive with AirBnB when staying short term an

With all these government contracts, they must be making a lot of money already, why do they need to raise so much?

"Unlimited" should be banned from advertising slogans. It's like an "all you can eat" buffet that kicks out the customers that eat too much. It's a trick that companies employ because nobody reads their TOCs

Of course. Just like Buffett gets deals that others (even with billions) simply can't get. Reputation matters much more than your investment thesis.

Yes and no - our lives would be much easier if we could just assume that every user runs a WebKit fork. From testing to development, it would be enable devs to push apps to the limit without testing across multiple platforms. And I'm

I suggest you take a look at the stats for the number of billionaires in the world over the past 10-20 years. Most likely that chart is very much correlated to house prices in prime areas. http://www.wsws.org/asset/571

I do mean within a mobile browser. We have a pretty large app inside Cordova, and I've yet to get stuck where there's something I can't recreate. Would be interesting to see an example where a mobile browser falls short.

What most apps need can be done by listening to touch events instead of scroll events. Eg hiding the top bar when user started scrolling down and so on. I can't even think of an app that has a parallax effect. If your app is required t

How so? Which feature of the UITableView can not be replicated in JS? I'm struggle to think of one. Swipe left/right to remove rows in a table can be done with touch events. What am I missing?

I think simply moving any function that takes more than 10ms to a web worker is enough frankly.

I can't help but feel that all this energy would be better spent on improving webkit itself (such as running JS in a separate thread to the UI)

I've been thinking about this as well yesterday, but to be honest I'm not sure where the benefits are. In theory the browser is doing the rendering in a separate thread anyway, i.e. CSS layout and things like scrolling are handle

I agree 100%. This completely defeats the point of web technologies - you must as well write C# and use Xamarin. I don't want to learn yet another HTML-type spec plus a CSS fork. The whole point was to use web technologies: JS + HT
