Thanks, would be interesting to learn about your stack. Let me know how you get on, it's very easy to add custom build tools to reserver, literally a few lines of code.

Thanks. Yeah I've used browserify directly within gulp before, and frankly I just find it too much of a hassle to write configs for either build tools. I use npm to script production builds and use reserver for debugging, which is wo

JavaScript is most future-proof. Given that it runs in browsers, servers (Node.js) and mobiles (PhoneGap) I strongly suggest learning the Node ways, as you may find yourself using Backbone/Angular/etc on the client and in-depth kn

Someone please explain why this is a problem. The way I see it is that advertisers pay for results. If you spend $100,000 on ads and make less than $100,000 in extra profit - you're paying too much for ads. The fact that 23% of ad v

Small libraries win out every time, as soon as there is a decent package management system. Just look at what happened with Node and NPM - npm really rocks, and the whole node ecosystem is choke full of great and small libraries that fit t

This was my first reaction as well. I've tried using React but the designer in me hated having views inside my controllers. So I've ended up writing vanilla js, and a helper MVC framework: https://github.com/tech

I'd definitely recommend learning vanilla js over a framework. From there you should pick up and read the source of some useful libs like Backbone, or (shameless plug) my own MVC framework: https://github.com/techlayer

ToDo example actually has simple routing. I'm using this mostly for PhoneGap projects so don't even use routing, but any routing library should work same way as in Backbone, eg: https://github.com/flatiron/di

I believe it combines the best ideas of React & Flux & Backbone: - A small library that you can read and hack easily - No templates or HTML/JSX in your JavaScript - Models & Collections are small wrappers around Objects &am

May I add one more point: - the render() method provides a way to declare what the DOM looks like (React-style) OR manipulate the DOM imperatively (Backbone style) This helps the Flux one-directional data flow, which you can see in the ToDo

Espresso.js diffs as well, except it doesn't have to diff the entire DOM but only the attributes that you'll actually be changing in effect. Moreover it gives you the option between declaratively specifying the DOM to imperatively

Sure - but that's quite horrible to write. And moreover it requires a sophisticated virtual DOM diffing algo, hence the size of React's library. I prefer to do this: render: function() { return { view: { classList: { editin

Few benefits: - no need to diff the whole DOM tree - no need to write JSX, you can simply use DOM nodes the render() method still gives you most of the niceties of React, ie a declarative view of your DOM, without the nasty inclusion of H
