I was just telling someone[1] that I explored Forth for this exact purpose a few years ago, but ended up with a more imperative, statement-oriented approach: https://github.com/akkartik/mu [1] https://mervei

Ok, that makes sense. I see now how package managers are an unalloyed good for someone who's mostly or entirely doing prototyping work and doesn't have to do the work to constantly keep them up to date. When you're prototypin

What languages do you use, and how is that heuristic going for you? I find package managers help for some time after they're introduced, and then life sucks once again as they enable people to add lots of dependencies. It's kinda

It should be a text post with the contents of https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=28609506 rather than a link.

Off topic but I accidentally touched marcodiego's user profile instead of the title. Amazing Easter egg.

Thank you for the correction! I had my blinkers on there and wasn't thinking of the vector instruction set.

Yeah, for sure. I should just take it out of my project. I'm only supporting a subset of the instruction set anyway.

Where is a function body colored differently than its argument list? (I mostly agree with you. My preferred syntax highlighting is for just comments and string literals.)

I want to see more examples besides these two. My suspicion: open source is a red herring here, and all we're seeing is Google's longstanding culture of being terrible at support. This blog post is basically comparing two companie

Thank you for those suggestions! Do you know if any of those tools following either approach has any automated tests? My immediate problem is how to manage the complexity of implementing a layout engine or editor. Somewhere I need something

Short version: I'm close to figuring out how to encourage more prototyping of software by making tests super easy to write during the prototyping process, and so de-risking rewrites. But one problem I've been stymied by is how to

Yeah that's the word on the street. However, I think Eurisko is worth study even if we reframe it as a work of IA (Intelligence Augmentation) rather than AI. It seems extremely unlikely that Lenat could win the Travellers tournaments

I can't tell how to use the defining forms at https://calculist.io/markup . These work: * \= 2*3 * \(x, y) = x+y However I'm not sure how to define a new function. Here's what I tried: * \:
