Their arms and neck hurt from computer use, so they develop elaborate setups to be able to use computers more. I just hope the ingenuity will run out before their body reaches an unrecoverable state.

The other replies have covered your first paragraph. This is easy. For tasks requiring GPIO, a Zero is usually more than enough, in my experience.

~$100 is not twice more expensive than ~$100. Where are you getting your prices? (See other replies to my comment for links & names)

In a world where N100 exists, only Zero and Nano Pis are interesting. The main/x00 lines are not good deals for desktop or self-hosting use. Not sure what the point the monitor makes.

An external power adapter means a DC power input, which can be upgraded with a LiIon battery. It’s more expensive to do for AC. That’s a very nice upgrade in many places, and for many scenarios. A power brick, meanwhile, is easy to hide out

I want maps, a taxi/bike rental app, banking, notes, a camera, a music player, tickets for stuff, and a TOTP gizmo. You’ll say I can do most of that in a browser, but then you’ve just moved complexity around.

Okay let’s be fair, people do want better low-light photos. And text recognition in photos. And translation. Or maybe they don’t, but I somehow see people using those features all the time.

2FA via TOTP implies two things: 1) you know a password; 2) you know the seed. This is why people criticize that approach. In practice, knowing a password and having a file (seed) seem different enough, and work against some phishing threat

Plenty of companies already make phones with cameras. “Cameraphones”, as young people call them. Why do you want camera makers — who are obviously serving a market you are not interested in — to stop serving their market?

This is not old code. Old code did not have dialer (tel:) urls. Given the timing, the dict it refers to is also not the original one, but the Safari link scheme.

BeOS/Haiku window management is so nice. Nothing is quite like it, with easy and intuitive tabbed groups and snapping. Really unfortunate that no Linux WM stole that. Tracker is very refreshing for me as a spatial Nautilus enjoyer (and

I do not understand this. Why use a three-node Proxmox cluster to self-host services that would (generously) need one N100 (with straightforward LiIon battery backup)? Why all this complexity for a relatively barebone setup? They aren’t eve

The "safe" part. It's a plan to drive the safety scare into a set of regulations that will create a moat, at which point you don't need to worry about open source models, or new competitors.

From what I see in these threads, it mostly depends on whether your local police chooses to enforce drug laws.

Apart from the fact that, in my years of using Telegram as my messaging app, I have never seen any of the "easy access to drugs" screens people here seem to find: an easy way to find drug sellers is a boon to law enforcement. This

They obviously see things differently. You cannot claim that the particular sanctions regime in place pushes Putin & co towards your desired course of action without understanding their motivations.

I do not understand your point. You are claiming that Windows needs to support a greater variety of hardware than linux, which is not true. Windows does not run on phones or supercomputers; linux runs everywhere windows does.

With container workloads, "Linux" is just the kernel; userland can be largely absent. That kernel runs on cheapest phones, and on largest supercomputers. With a similarly wide diversity of software. A much more heterogeneous envir

The Jackson-Vanik amendment was only repealed in 2012, at the same point when the Magnitsky act was signed. I don't think Putin & co see a lifting of sanctions as a possibility, given past experience.

I'm not in the US. While the tobacco itself is unbeatable, Cuban cigars have quality control issues. You regularly run into draw issues, for example. Aging is typically required for best experience, which also isn't easy. I smoke
