Ridesharing is a tough business, primarily due to supply side scarcity. Long distance carpools are even tougher. It takes a team with incredible dedication to accomplish what RideJoy has been able to. I noticed that they are STILL a feature

Garry is not just an awesome investor and advisor, he is one of the best human beings I know! I don't think I have ever had a conversation with Garry where I didn't leave more energized.

The 5% premoney pool is another thing that will dilute founders (unless I am reading this wrong). YC doesn't require a premoney option pool for employees.

One day I will write about the tragi-comedy that was my route to being able to start and run a startup as an immigrant. Meanwhile, I want to highlight two things: (1) My wife, who has a graduate degree from one of the best schools in the U.

Looks like FLINT center has a higher seating capacity. Startup School was pretty packed last year, so I am glad they are increasing the seating capacity.

What is your source for the 15% number? In SF, UberX costs the same as taxis per mile, has no tip but a higher minimum, and surges regularly to 1.75x or more every time there is high demand, such as on weekends

UberX is may be cheaper than UberTaxi some of the time, because the latter has a mandatory 20% "tip" plus a convenience fee, but it's not cheaper than a cab. For one, the minimum fare is more than double that of a cab in SF,
