Someone shared this yesterday and I didn’t get what what’s interesting about it. It just looked like a normal GoL simulator. I didn’t realize you could zoom in and out. This is so cool. Thanks for sharing.

Got today’s word in 77 guesses. According to the game that’s not a good score, but I was impressed I was able to figure it out at all. Definitely much harder than Wordle.

I like this. TDD purists would probably complain that you don’t assert a specific value, but in practice I know a lot of people hardcode the assert values for their tests based on the test output. So this just automated that, I guess. If I

When describing how the boat owner fell off his boat, the author said it could’ve happened to anyone, but it sounds like he was peeing off the side of his boat while the engine was running. I don’t know, but that sounds pretty dumb to me.

Can someone explain what’s 4D about this? Is it 4D because the 3D models are animated (moving)?

I agree with that too comments that you should avoid having a backend at all for your MVP if you can avoid it (just make a static hosted website with HTML, CSS, and minimal JS). But since you asked about backends specifically, this is what

This is my first type hearing about linear types, but my guess is the name comes from the fact that you have to repeatedly “thread” a value through your code to keep using it. If you look at the example for Files, you have to pass the outpu

This is really cool. I’ve actually been looking for a tool like this recently. I’ve tried a few other website name generators, but your website gave significantly better recommendations than the other websites I tried. Namelix gave decent r

I did use the compare button to compare my times to the average times for those puzzles. My times were all above the average times, which was cool. But, at least with Wordle, I think it spread because people were excited about beating their

I agree that this is extremely annoying. It happens to me all the time with the iOS keyboard suggestions. For websites, Google calls the Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) and it’s one of the Core Web Vitals they use for measuring website perfor

I’ve played a lot of Flow. I enjoyed the three puzzles for today. I don’t think I would come back every day to do it though. But I rarely play Wordle, so maybe I’m not the right audience. My only feedback is to think more about why Wordle i

After thinking about the article some more, I reached the same conclusion. I was trying to figure out why the author wrote this, and my best explanation is that this was an attempt to defend companies that have been labeled “toxic”. Like, “

The author gives two examples of jobs they worked at then asserts that all companies are fucked up. I think you need better evidence or at least a more persuasive argument to claim that “all companies are fucked up”. Maybe the author didn’t

One reason corruption might increase with sortition is that it would be much cheaper to successfully bribe a representative. Most politicians are rich so it’s very expensive to make a bribe worthwhile to them. But if people with less money

Can you provide more detail on how this would actually work or somewhere I can read more about this? Like, if there are two people participating and one’s random number is 01 and the other’s is 11 (binary), and you XOR them you get 10. But

I agree with the other comments suggesting React. I actually typically recommend just plain HTML and CSS for most projects. But it sounds like you’re building something with a lot of interactivity, so something like React (or Vue or Svelte)

I’ve never heard of the author until today, so I don’t have any bias against him, but I think his argument makes a lot of sense. Personally, my preferred solution to polarization is voting reform (I actually think approval voting would be

It’s not clear in the article, but if this is all from the same company, this sounds like a really bad company to work for. The author is probably right that they’re being treated unfairly because of their autism (which is wrong), but I’d b

It would be nice if there was a Give Up button. I got down to 30 possible words but could not for the life of me think of what they could be. I was craving that “Ohhhhh!!!!!” feeling when you see what the remaining possible words are.

I haven’t used it myself, but Next.js is a popular choice if you want to use React. It’s primarily a front end framework, but can do all of the things you mentioned in your post. But probably not the best if you’re looking for something to
