How many dollars did it take to cure Stage 1C breast cancer in 1635? How much did a Facetime call to Peru cost in 1635? Ridiculous. The deflator is useful only in the short term. If that.

PowerPoint’s cognitive vagueness and thinness meet a fundamental need. 95% of these presentations are done by individuals that seriously lack the organizational POWER to deal with issues. So they are often show and tell, directed so as not

Reading between the lines, they started out by “designing” i.e. choosing genetic sequences. But they found out it was more efficient to generate more virulent viruses simply by natural selection in mouse and human respiratory cell cultures.

I had a friend who barely knew anything about software, but was fairly motivated. He was offered $40k in 1980. At the sane time, I was making $28k with a PhD in Physics working on lasers. We were young guys, it ruined our relationship.

In my fifties, I finally figured out that the INTEGRAL constuitive relations for inductors and capacitors were much more fundamental than the differential ones. Solved virtually all understanding problems for me.

Fidelity gave me an EXAM on options concepts before allowing me to trade them. I made one trade, then realized it’s a casino where the sharks take money from the fish. I reasoned that options trading is a full time job to be successful.

That’s easy. A government decides to collude with healthcare-for-profit. So they allow any provider to demand your genetic sequence. As things are discovered, they price your healthcare accordingly, economically disadvantaging you based o

You keep talking about rent seeking behavior. Rent seeking is when an asset is owned or monopolized in such a way that the owner can experiment with putting up prices without delivering any extra value. It is a very secure and sought after

A lot of books are written to claim “ownership” rights over certain ideas. These “rights” are convertible to other items of value: lectures, consultancies, academic appointments, jobs of all kinds, etc. This is almost the sole rationale fo
