I really don't think you can call the 360 controller "ideal" for platformers with its unusable d-pad. Or do people actually use sticks for platformers these days? Since the Wii U's not selling so well, most people probab

The sad thing is that official games aren't allowed to support the pressure-sensitivity provided by the DS hardware, so it's only used in homebrew apps like the paint app you mentioned.

Of course SSH is better all around, but the article was saying that you'd have to authenticate every time you push if you use the HTTP link which isn't really true.

It doesn't really make any sense, but that's the official story even inside Nintendo (of America). And using Japanese here is pointless.

I have my Bash set to vi keybindings, but I had no idea it was possible to remap them. Now I can finally stop hitting escape in Bash too. Thank you so much!

It used to be very unfortunate, but J Raynor recently posted a working patch and I'm currently running tmux in Cygwin! http://www.marshut.com/mrnsr/patch-for-tmux-on-cygwin.html

I think you misread that statement. She's saying that by doing the power pose, she felt ridiculous (lost her dignity) but was able to convince the cleaners to get her blouse done faster.

Actually Google's transit directions are horrible in Japan, so the Japanese will probably be the least affected by this.

It looks like they've still got some kinks to iron out. On the Take Action page, I'm getting a server error on the right and when I try to open the PDF it goes to a Google Docs page that tells me I don't have permission.

I haven't looked into it extensively and I could be mistaken, but after the suicides at Foxconn, I remember reading an article about how the suicide rate at the factory was far lower than the suicide rate of the surrounding towns. The condi

You can get prepaid data from b-mobile and I highly recommend it. They piggyback on Docomo's network and they sell both data-only and data/voice prepaid sims. I don't know if they check visas for the voice version nut the data version is ch

All of the wonderful functionality in Xbox Live only lasts a few years. They already shut down all original (before 360) Xbox games last year. That means you can't play online multiplayer anymore and you can't even redownload add-on content

I just have to say thank you so much for this comment! I do a lot of Japanese text editing and I've also been learning Vim recently, but I had no idea that Vim recognizes Japanese words. Many times I've thought, "It's too bad I can't (effec

That's the standard recovery partition, but you'll still need a working hard drive to boot from that. Internet Recovery doesn't even require a working hard drive, so it's an entirely different system.

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, that is the plan I'm talking about, but the article is incorrect. They never closed the loophole; they completely opened it. Anyone with the $5 plan actually has free access to any data connection; T-Mobile do

"Android" is just a far better name than "GNU." The main difference is probably just that it's easily pronounceable, but it also connects to images in people's minds that make it easy to remember. "Linux," like "Android" is most importantly

I'm not the parent, but if you were grandfathred in (or I've heard there are tricks to get it from scratch) T-Mobile has a $5 unlimited data plan (in the US). It doesn't include texting, but you can just use Google Voice.

I also use an iPhone on T-mobile. As jrmg said, you'll only get Edge since the 3G frequencies are different, but the speed is fine for most use. I also highly recommend T-mobile overall. Let's just hope something stops AT&T's buyout.
