That’s my dream too, but unfortunately the Google that took that path would have died long ago after being choked off by other large ecosystems from Microsoft, Apple, etc. First Chrome, then Android were critical, life-or-death maneuvers fo

Not sure why you’re getting downvotes, Ori is a good recommendation as a modern take on a Metroid-like game. But I strongly disagree about the difficulty. I’m no pro gamer, but I am from the NES era and in Ori I don’t think I ever died? Or

The "Japan is no different from any other country" trope is just as inaccurate as the "wacky Japan" trope and in my experience has actually overtaken the original in online discussions (though news articles clearly still

Japan's not a paradise in every way, but this is exactly why my family has settled here. The lifestyle possible in most of Japan is very difficult to replicate in other countries and invaluable to general quality of life even if you ha

How long ago did you live in Japan? Very little of this is true anymore. Unless maybe you're deep in the country and only dealing with businesses and authorities that stopped evolving decades ago? I recently moved and only communicated

There are plenty of people like that; most of the world actually. You’re just hanging out on a site basically target at people that want to ride rockets.

Replied above, but the staples are almost certainly more difficult. It’s just very secure without any studs and it doesn’t leave large holes.

You wouldn’t just be watching the news; you could be done watching a movie on your newly-mounted TV before I’d be done with the staples! I recently upgraded to a larger TV and used the large version of this mount that used 750 staples. And

The staple holes are so small you likely don't need to fill them in. This is designed in/for Japan where most apartments have this weird soft textured wallpaper that hides the holes quite well. But if you drilled bigger holes in a

They're regular, small staples not going in particularly deep, but the aggregate friction is enough to hold it very firmly. Here's a video of a guy pulling on it so hard his (admittedly thin) wall flexes[0]. I forgot if it was thi

Everything you need comes with the product. You staple the plate to the wall using little plastic films and then there’s another piece that hooks onto the plate. Then you attach the TV to that piece with screws into the VESA holes. That co

This is missing staples! I'm not sure if there's anything similar available in other countries, but I swear by this staple-based wall-mount product sold in Japan[0]. Right now I have a 55" TV wall-mounted with nothing but sta

The OS (iOS) and the service you’re paying to modify (Google) are very different, so this analogy doesn’t make any sense. If Apple charged you to not use ScreenTime or something, sure, but that’s not the case.

Oh, I see what you’re saying now. Not that the real Chiba was ever an electronics Mecca, but that it was in the book and reality never matched up. I guess in another timeline Chiba could have become Shenzhen. That would have been cool.
