The file system hasn’t been hidden for years. Unfortunately the app and components that interact with it are completely anemic, so it’s still a pain to work with.

On MacOS, every menu item has the keyboard shortcut displayed to the right, even the ones you’ve custom assigned. On iOS this is about to get a lot better too; on iOS/iPadOS 15, if you hold down ⌘, you get a list of keyboard shortcuts

What’s better about keyboard shortcuts on Windows? MacOS has a very rich set of keyboard shortcuts, the prevailing culture is for third-party apps to have them too, and you can map custom shortcuts to any command accessible in a menu. I hav

It’s actually possible to bypass and run any iOS app, but it’s not easy and requires a jailbroken iOS device to decrypt the apps. I recently followed this guide[0] and it worked. https://www.applegamingwiki.com/wiki/Sid

Before this thread, I never considered they might deprecate the native app, but there seemed to be a lot of premonition here that it’s on the horizon. I wasn’t actively looking to find a replacement, but I was certainly not happy to see the

Thank you so much for this recommendation! This looks like exactly what I hoped existed, basically 1Password without all of the striving to be more than an app. Also, I already have a SetApp subscription so the desktop version is effectivel

Thanks for the warning about this. I was already disappointed in the direction 1Password has been taking, and moving to Electron would certainly be the last straw. It’s totally reasonable that they want to cheap out on the actual software

Not sure if you’re a native English speaker, so commenting explicitly just to help out. “Religious” does not only refer to supernatural beliefs, at least in American English. US partisanship has escalated to a level where it can be easily r

I think this is only a religious debate in the US where Trump tied it directly to a certain identity people desperately want to maintain or distance themselves from.

Neither of these apply to Japan, especially Japan decades ago when their birthrate fell to around the current rate. So that’s a pretty strong data point against these theories being key factors.

I often use an external keyboard with my iPad (but not really on the go). Both multi-tasking and keyboard shortcut support have gotten a lot better recently (with an especially big push in iPadOS 15), but I find the biggest blocker that iPa

I also use Blink with Mosh, but what’s your physical setup? You mentioned using it on the train, so are you using an attachable keyboard like the Magic Keyboard? At that point, isn’t the iPad just bigger and heavier than a laptop? I don’t a

I’m curious why you prefer the iPad and keyboard over a laptop since adding the keyboard typically makes the iPad both bigger and more unwieldy than a laptop. I ask because I also like the vague idea of not taking a laptop, but I’m not goin

Almost every setting in MacOS can be accessed by the command line, and many things only there. Actually I don’t think I’ve found anything so far that can’t be set from the command line and I do a fair amount of that kind of tweaking.

If you see no access even as root as problematic, why are you avoiding disabling SIP? That sounds like exactly what you want.
