It’s not traditional css and you need to accept that if you want to work with it. It has a load of benefits in a different dimension to css, and personally I think they’re worth the trade off. My main issue with it is the inability to cont

I've been keeping an eye on your work for a long time now. We're a mobx shop so I was hoping to see you explore the ideas you had around that a little more ( https://github.com/ryansolid/mobx-jsx ). I like and

A friend of a friend went through this a while ago and I was called on to help. Insta was totally taken over and so I made her start going through the linked gmail account because there should be a message in there from insta about the deta

I’ve worked in all those places (currently in the fully versioned model). We occasionally do a full reset using an export of the current schema as a new base and then start versioning again from there. So there’s not really a good technical

Yeah, I remember now the pain of using bad orms. That feeling that you know what you want, but it’s going to load the data via configuration that you can’t bend into shape. Sqlalchemy is not that kind of orm. If anything is running slow in

Can you provide some examples? I use sqlalchemy, and the amount of work that it does for me when it comes to handling mutating data is pretty remarkable.

We’ve started using views and friends a lot more recently (now I’ve recovered from my PTSD from a lifetime ago when I worked in a poorly managed sql server shop). As you point out, they’re often not first class citizens. On the flip side, w

Thanks for the article. Even though I'm not active on the development side in either editor, I love the idea that people are toiling away on these same sorts of enhancements in both environments (and I get the benefit in neovim).

Before this conversation is railroaded by talk about language servers, as the article points out, tree sitter tends to need to be a bit closer to the environment to be effective. There’s still work to do, but having tree sitter in neovim fe

Sure, but a lot of us don’t like that extra overhead. LSP is great in that it’s a tool you can tap into to use in a workflow that’s best for you. More of a library than an application (not technically, but in terms of how you use it).

But you can build any query with Sqlalchemy - even when using the ORM rather than the Core, you still have that control, right? Don’t get me wrong, I’ve read stuff by these guys and I know they know what they’re talking about. Certainly, if

Wow. It’s been a long time since I thought about navigating the internet before Google (and Altavista before that). Some of the younger people might not spot it from the linked page, but a web ring was where each site agreed to link to the

As a vim user, you’d probably just find notion frustrating. As you point out, you can tailor vim to be streamlined to your workflow. Notion is in the opposite direction where everything is pretty slow going (and as I’m sure people will pile

That’s just because you don’t use them often though. If they were a daily driver it’d be different. I think that if you have a good mental model of how awk works, then you know times that it’s the right tool for the job. And on those occasi

Ah, gotcha, the theme stuff at the bottom? Yeah, I don’t like that myself. I’ve been there with materialui and it’s depressing seeing runtime css kill your js performance for absolutely no gain.

Tailwind isn’t css in js. It’s just css. They’ve built endless css mini classes that effectively give you enhanced inline styles. So stuff like hover variations are possible by adding the class directly to your element. You can use the just

I guess that’s what I mean, yeah. For people that just don’t need these extensions, you could run without the GIL and then if it was required you could start using it while interacting with unsupported extensions. I get what you’re saying,

Is there a workaround here where that locking can be applied automatically from above when an extension hasn’t explicitly said it’s GIL-free safe?

We switched over to Vite some time back and it's been pretty life changing. We're using react and tailwind too, so the HMR works really well for us. The config is beyond minimal. If you're using webpack you may want to look a

How does that work? Don’t you have to effectively convert your general iterable to an array and then join on that? Array.from(iterable).join(…)?

I, for one, would like to stand up and offer a digital salute to the people that worked on this. This announcement doesn't do justice to the amount of work that's gone into Chromium for RenderingNG.
