They’re perfect for client generation of db ids. I was looking to do exactly this format, but decided not to do anything that was weirdly non-standard. Uuid6 is the one I’ll be switching to now.

Some interesting tips on this list (and in the comments). It’s definitely worth taking a step back every now and again and investing a little in picking up some newer tools for better workflows. I recently switched to the latest neovim and

It did the same to the Macs (even recent models) to be honest. The M1 is the only laptop that seems to not die under zoom strain.

While I think the documentation is pretty good, something like Blender is really hard to find your way around initially as a layman. I’ve found YouTube tutorials to be the best way so far but, My God, they’re slow going. Don’t get me wron

I worked with a guy that was convinced at the last second to change his test email from a swear word to just "test". When he accidentally sent that to the customer base the CEO tore him a new one; it could have been so much worse.

I’ve wondered the same but haven’t done any digging into it yet. We’re in the middle on migrating a lot of code over and I plan to test the impact. It’s all going to depend on what sort of optimisations are done by the browser. They could v

It’s actually more fine grained than that, which is what makes it work. You can add responsive variations and hover styles all in the same place. It’s effectively inline styles on steroids. And actually, today for the first time in ages and

Ah ha. Yup, that’s exactly it. Thanks for the pointer. Edit: can you explain by what you mean by solving it with topics? I thought topics were a broadcast mechanism?

Well, I only ever enqueue idempotent work, so again, in my scenario it can fail and be rerun, but I’m also unsure about what you think is a bad idea here. Honestly, I had more code managing two phase commits so I would only push to the queu

The solution I use now is to have the queue in the dB and then have a single process pushing to another queue better suited to dealing with workers. I drank from the “keep your queue out of the dB” koolaid once, but then you end up worrying

Not really any questions (other than my one in the comment thread about the best way forward for providers on Apple Silicon), but definitely a hat tip in your direction. I’ve had a good 8 years of plain sailing out of Vagrant and I apprecia

As a counterpoint, vagrant has never broken on me, nor been slow. It’s mostly a configuration system for VM providers, so I don’t even see how that makes sense.

Has anyone had any success with a vagrant provider on Apple Silicon now that virtual box is now out of action? We’re using UTM, which does the job as a frontend to qemu, but it’s be nice to switch back to a vagrant based declarative file.

We’re making the switch at the moment and, after a bit of a learning bump, everyone is flying along with it now. It’s basically inline-styles++ with having all the context right there but not having the edge cases that require breaking out

In the PostgreSQL codebase they have readmes scattered about and it’s great to jump into some subfolder and get the details you need in the right context.
