Well-stated. Our prior solutions to internal enforcement of previous Border misses no longer work given that the scale of border "misses" exploded after deliberate non-enforcement.* Now larger-scale internal enforcement is needed.

Very similar feeling to watching the liberal/progressive party fangirl the FBI and the intel community edit: in reality the times have changed and so has the country and the parties. All of these pre-2008 stereotypes are stupid and not

This is stupid. Unless you happen to be the one that crashes it won't be a factor at all.

Don't presume too much about the US Navy's fleet decisions. Using that same logic you could presume that smaller, aged and poorly maintained fleets are advantageous for naval supremacy since that appears to be the choice of the US

Endless wars pre-date capitalism. Western defense companies are hardly capitalistic. They are as "planned economy" as it gets. China is wildly capitalistic in many aspects. Maybe Chinese companies don't lobby for war because

We have had mass surveillance for a generation now. It would be great if they used it for mass deportations.

I recently sold my 1TB M1 Cellular iPad at a loss and picked up a 2019 Intel MacBook Pro for exactly the same reason. I don't even need GNU-freedom, regular MacOS is fine. I just can't live with a iPadOS anymore. edit: you can pry

The insane thing about the US is that 350M people are being represented. The government needs to represent a minority of people in order to become functional again. That said I bet the Senate exists in 500 years.
