The author is the CEO of one of the companies they say has the solution to this "problem". I guess they technically say that in a footnote, but it's pretty far below the fold. How can you criticize hosted cloud services for m

Nice! I assume if it was over the WAN you probably had to unicast it? I've experimented a tiny bit with the builtin pulseaudio RTP sink/source, but I've not used it extensively. I'm not sure if cutting out ffmpeg would b

You can do something similar with ffmpeg -stream_loop -1 -re -i gettysburg.wav -f mp3 udp://239.0.0.1:1234 on one device, and ffplay -i udp://239.0.0.1:1234 on another device. You can also play the stre

I absolutely agree in principle, but unless pay is in some way linked to performance I really don’t see how. The existing seniority based pay system completely decouples money as an incentive, doesn’t it?

Well, I think it’s probably fair for users to expect a site advertising itself as a great web host for git to not serve stale files over web protocols. It’s kinda the entire point of the website. Maybe it’s a bit questionable to use the raw

Seeing as it’s git, can’t you just do content based hashing through the commit hash? And I’d assume the GitHub api has a way to get the hash for the head of a branch? I don’t know, I guess the entire point of GitHub is to be able to obtain

One thing I don't fully understand is why single family zoning is necessary to make this a reality? Won't density naturally fall off as you move out of the core? Since area increases with the square of the radius, it seems to me t

Isn't what you're describing basically a unix "shell" like bash, csh, zsh, etc? I agree that something like bash leaves a lot to be desired in REPL functionality. Its ubiquity is convenient, however.

Huh, I considered BSD to have a good reputation for stability and I believe network stack performance as well. Too bad. I did very much like the debian base of VyOS. I've had pretty good experiences with OpenWRT. But it's command

Is there something that puts VyOS in a separate class than openwrt/*sense? I really liked VyOS when I tried it out, but OpenWRT seems like _mostly_ the same thing. A bit less polished, but more likely to run on different vendor's
