I apologise, I’ve not read literature on it, or the particular methodology you describe. I’m not judging you. That said, whatever the merits of a structured approach, for every parent that diligently follows them, there are others that are

“A little rap on the knuckles” is less severe than full on beating, but it’s on the gradient of physical violence. Teaching a child that their call for help will not be answered is unkind and damaging. And I’m not sure a baby has the same p

My parents' generation (in the UK) were physically beaten as children. It was a normal part of parenting and part of school. My hope is that one day we will consider this emotionally abusive behaviour as seriously as we we now look at

Not the commenter you replied to, but I am a parent. I see attachment as one of the most important aspects of human experience. Forcibly severing this is, in my opinion, emotional abuse.

Why are adjacent bytes swapped? An attempt at copyright evasion when dumping? Or were the bytes originally swapped in the ROM for some reason like little/big endian?

That opening sentence in the news report: > With the cabling of our streets... In the 90s there was a sudden push to lay cable (TV and Internet). Suddenly large chunks of the UK could get copper broadband at home. It felt very exciting.

The WebSub spec looks disarmingly simple but also complete for everything I can think of. I've not yet tried to implement it, but I'm waiting for the catch! Thanks for the confirmation.

We're running an API, we want to say to users e.g. "we finished processing your submission" or "this API resource changed". And offer pull (e.g. RSS) and push flavour. > You say it would be server to server, but

The headline got my attention. I'm looking for a standard for subscribeable notifications / callbacks to update users of data changes in an API. Bonus point for federated. But server to server, not server to client. Double bonus p

I just tried it and my link was flagged as 'malware'. The feeling of having my speech curtailed was surprisingly visceral. That free speech debate doesn't feel so academic.

I can't think of many other languages that will compile into a Java codebase, and be interoprable in both directions, as well as Kotlin. It's a lot quicker to pick up than e.g. Scala IMHO.
