I believe Namecheap still resells some TLDs from Enom. What has probably happened is that the name has been released at the registrar, Enom has received the transfer acknowledgement but NameCheap probably has not picked up the completed tra

If he has not received the authorization email then it most likely means that the transfer request has not been submitted to the registry which means that GoDaddy has no knowledge of the transfer yet.

It's actually a requirement for gTLDs like com/net/org. When you transfer a domain the registry automatically extends the domain 1 year (or the minimum). If the registrar is charging for the transfer and the extension then you're being ta

I can't promise I can do it, but I'll work on it. ICANN accreditation and registry access is all about money. If I can get the working capital then I'll get DNSimple accredited in 2012. Believe me, I'd love to be able to do it.

In case you haven't seen it before, I wrote up a step-by-step guide earlier this year as well: http://blog.dnsimple.com/preparing-domains-godaddy-for-trans... Note the tip at the end: you usually have to wait the full 5 day waiting period

A domain could indeed have multiple PTR records and they can exist with other records for a name, however for PTR records to be used for the purpose of aliasing there would need to be some sort of additional processing in resolvers. If I we

We considered DNAME records, however a DNAME only redirects subdomains: Unlike a CNAME RR, a DNAME RR redirects DNS names subordinate to its owner name; the owner name of a DNAME is not redirected itself. Thus for this to work for a

Right now it would resolve to the location of whichever of our name servers handled the request. Theoretically we could pass through the original requestor's IP address, but we don't right now.

I think you should take the frontend one step further and have it live completely on the client side. It is fully within the realm of possibility to build a JavaScript/HTML application for the front end that only interacts with your API. Is

Interesting! Thanks for the clarification and I definitely agree that :sav FILENAME is a more accurate Save File As... than :w FILENAME.

Is there somewhere to suggest comments? The information is quite useful but I think there may be some more idiomatic shortcuts in certain cases. For example, isn't :w FILENAME the equivalent of "Save As"? And perhaps it would be good to sho

As long as the volume of insurance related payouts is small enough and the volume of customers purchasing insurance is large enough, then it's a viable business model. In fact, that's how insurance works (and how it stops working when there

There is surprisingly little written about good API design. Maybe it's because the important things to say have already been said, but I have my doubts that that is the reason.

This is an excellent little PDF that was very useful to me when I put together a recent talk titled "API Design Matters". It's amazing how a bit of energy spent focusing on an API's design can improve so many aspects of both using and devel

I started DNSimple ( https://dnsimple.com/ ) a year ago and it's doing pretty well. It's a side project but I put a lot into it, so it's really like a second job. I currently put all of the money back into it rather than paying myself, so p

The problem with using CNAME records in this way is that the resulting page would not be protected under SSL. Even if the resulting POST is, there are reasons to ensure that page 1 is also under SSL, such as verification that the page comes
