That's a very interesting idea. If you could get a reasonable number of domain holders who have somewhat valuable names that aren't being used to buy in then I think you have a good chance of some success. Naturally the biggest concern woul

It's worth pointing out that this article is a bit long in the tooth. Although perhaps biased responses, it's worth looking at some other thoughts on the subject: http://devcentral.f5.com/weblogs/macvittie/archive/2011/03/2... http://dev

Same thing happened here. It seems like an interesting idea but there are a whole bunch of questions I was left with, like what happens to my data, where is the application running, what is the end goal of the project, etc. In all fairness

I put together a step-by-step guide on how to prepare domains for transfer out of GoDaddy: http://blog.dnsimple.com/post/3167427271/preparing-domains-i... Naturally I'd love if you used DNSimple, but this will work for transferring out to

This is really good article, probably one of the best I've seen come out of Mashable. The exercise of determining what are the clichés of any industry seems something you'd want to tackle with a group - maybe a good geek-out exercise for en

PageKite is interesting - how do you mitigate the risk of security vulnerabilities that could exist by running on a potentially unpatched machine that you use for everything else (i.e. your typical PC)?

What's it written in? If it's in Ruby then Heroku would be my first choice because it's so easy to deploy an app to (with no system setup). Another option would be to run it on EC2 using a pre-built distro image with the components you need

I fully expected that some part of your app would involve porn. In fact I think by using a .xxx you're obligated to include porn...well, at least you should be obligated. Add porn, raise the round to 80 mil and we have a deal.

They make money from subscribers like me. It's just so damn convenient that I had to send them some money - and it just so happens that I exceed the basic amount of space, so it was easily justifiable.

Assuming it works well I think it's a nice idea. I assume that you're planning on taking a cut from sales and if so it would be nice to have something on the front page or in the FAQ that indicates what your cut is. I'm not a big fan of the

In case you want to use syntax highlighting on code in Keynote I've found that using http://gist.github.com to highlight and then copying the code into a text field in Keynote will retain the syntax highlighting and is a simple way to get

What kind of videos? It's important to know what you're selling in order to come up with some idea of the value of it. If you're simply aggregating the work of others then the value is less than if you are creating original content for exam
