We tried using Swift for a new app but the language isn't ready for prime time. It's an impressive language by itself, but the support for it just isn't there yet. Since it's still in infancy things change too much and d

What I understand flexible to mean is "serving 99% of use case scenarios". Arguably Photoshop does this, Instagram does not. Or maybe a better analogy is Photoshop vs Photoshop Elements, which probably only servers 80% of use case

You'd think there could be a way that they could track the times between pulls for the newsfeed as you scroll and get a lower resolution view of the same phenomena, basically how long you looked at those posts but without as specific d

And it doesn't mention civil rights or feminism either. There may be various cultural phenomenons that play a part in increasing the labor supply, but enforcing barriers to entry disregards the dignity of people. The fact is, if you wa

I don't know if it's as simple as it being always being either causation or correlation. Education level is used as a proxy of potential wellbeing indicators. Yes, there are rare people who have never finished high school and had

Yes, the real issue in the complaint is likely the grandfathered consumers who signed up to AT&T understanding one definition of unlimited just to be forced into another. I don't think it's an FTC attack on "unlimited but

Yeah, you're right that the grandfathered consumers are a special case. It would be like having truly unlimited coffee refills then all of a sudden being told you're getting half-cup intervals.

The issue doesn't seem to be the "unlimited by throttled" business model, but the adequate disclosure of that information to the consumer. Other carriers may have worded it differently. More importantly though, AT&T had a

Wouldn't it be more like after 2 cups they only get served in half-cup increments? I agree with the sentiment. Unlimited with throttles isn't truly "unlimited", but "unlimited*". That said, the FTC complaint se

Yeah, you're probably right. AdNauseam would do better to click on only a percent randomly.

I'm not endorsing AdNauseam, but the idea is that the information the ad companies track will be useless since the target person will appear to have clicked on every ad regardless of true interest in the product. For instance it will m

Over the past two years, I went from being 1 lbs overweight according to my doctor to 6'1" 175 by gradually starting to run and then then do yoga. I was getting up to six times a week either running 30 mins or 1 - 1.25 hours of yo

A friend and I published some apps on the Microsoft store a few years ago, when it was still for Windows Phone 7. We've received several emails from Microsoft saying we need to update this and that or our apps will be removed. Because

There are lots of "App Stores" now that accept web apps. Google, Firefox and Opera all have them. I think Amazon does too.

That's pretty great that one of the few Fox News articles to get on Hacker News is not only full of speculation and conspiracy-theory bait but also get ordnance/ordinance wrong.
