You are one of the few senior engineering leaders who think like this! And kudos to you! Wish I had talked to you in the earlier days of me struggling to learn

I think you are talking about the pie chart image in the blog post? I think "programming languages" is the default tag that Wakatime assigns to any file type inside VS Code. I took the screenshot from my Wakatime account :)

Hi, I am the blog author. This cracked me up! I have to go back and see where I made that goof up! :D But yeah you are probably right - I dont think I am the best software developer out there. I can definitely code just good enough to cobb

You are right! But what is that level when you say that you are a coder now? A software developer? When you graduate from a bootcamp? When someone hires you? Maybe when someone pays you for an app you built? For me it was the latter..

Learning to code != learning to run a prod app with real clients. I can learn to surf without being a professional surfer. So why can't I learn to code without wanting to make a career out of it? PS I am the original blog author

Hi! I am the author of that article. > I don't get how people can spend roughly 3 months learning to code and make a career out of it. Surely they must be lacking in certain core areas of CS. I kinda agree with you. One usually does

Thats true - and I 100% agree. Would you know of any resources to read for a self starter so that they can execute better? I am right now simply googling errors and "how to do x" .. but I feel I am missing out on some obvious core

Ugh this certainly sucks. I disagree with the rule that you can’t ask for feedback on your product! But fair I guess, considering that it has lots of potentials of misuse. Will remember this next time. Thanks for pointing me in the right di

Fair point on the distraction bit, and I hate it too! Kaapi sends two notifications a week and if your Slack notifications are off, you wont get any notification from app too :) Maybe we have some improvement areas on this topic. Will think

It was a good MVP to begin with. Slack abstracts away a lot of other head ache for us e.g. we dont have any frontend UI - we just give formatted JSON outputs to Slack API and they parse it for us!
