Haskell threads have some similarities to Goroutines. They are also real cheap and there's no problem creating lots of threads (M:N scheduling behind the scenes). There's also no function color problem with the threads. There&#x27

I think the crassness adds some gravitas to the word. What's a good alternative? Using a "professional" word feels like being too nice to the VC culture and companies becoming hostile to their users and customers. Words have

This exactly. If an LLM can do your task, then maybe your task was not that exciting to begin with. Let the LLMs to do the mundane coding. I do bunch of this "exotic" stuff, OpenCL kernels, matrix multiplications in Rust, Lua-writ

I think even though there is no consensus on the next Reddit, this might be another inflection point in Reddit downhill. It might not die on short term but I think being super crappy to your userbase makes you more vulnerable to future comp

This is also the reason I like when I see a project in C or C++. It's often a ./configure && make or something. Sometimes running a Python project even if dependencies install, there might be some mystery crash because pac

llama.cpp is great. It started off as CPU-only solution and now looks like it wants to support any computation device it can. I find it interesting that it's an example of an ML software that's totally detached from Python ML ecos

I think maybe the authors are using a strange definition of "fork": if you fork a project and then take it to a different direction, making incompatible changes from upstream then it's somehow not a fork anymore. I'm not

Of the answers I see here, I think I agree with yours most. I think LLM uptake in coding/engineering tasks will be slow and boring. You won't see some companies suddenly have 1000% growth due to AI. Well except maybe AI companies

I'm a bit worried the LLaMA leak will make the labs much more cautious about who they distribute models to for future projects, closing down things even more. I've had tons of fun implementing LLaMA, learning and playing around wi

I think even close experts are not immune to hype, FOMO or FUD. Yann LeCun and Andrew Ng are also big names and they didn't sign (I presume?). So not even experts agree with each other. I think it's a bit silly to list founder&#x2

I have got Vicuna-13B working on GTX 3090 Ti + OpenCL + CPU with 90% of weights on the GPU (otherwise running out of memory) at around 500ms per token. This model is really good for a (semi-)open source model. I think this may be the first
