Excellent point. And this calibrating is a key point as you lose weight--once you drop a significant amount you've got to revise your calorie intake down a commensurate amount. Estimation is good enough as long as you monitor your prog

Exactly right. It's all about the BMR and while calorie-counting alone won't get you ideal nutrition it is absolutely enough to control weight. I counted my calories with MyFitnessPal last spring and dropped 25 pounds. Consisten

Very interesting. Startup idea: stool sample testing and custom diet design via a mobile app. I call "not it" for the stool testing part. I'll work on the mobile app instead.

Seems like this should be easily fixable by making it the app developer's decision via CoreLocation. If the app developer in turn wants to allow the user to modify that setting, then more power too them.

I use the Sync Solver app to push my FitBit data into HealthKit. http://syncsolver.com/ I have both an Apple Watch and a FitBit Surge. The Apple Watch is the better smart watch, but the Surge is a much better fitness device
