Weird. They are one in the same to me. I started tinkering with cars and computers at a young age. I got a job fixing computers, then I got trained in cars and went to fix cars for a few years. Now I’m back to computers. I take things

What would it take to fix the subway? Money of course. Where's it come from? Who cares, just spend it. Transit is necessary. Tax the businesses that benefit from good transit. Raise the gas taxes, because driving is a luxury if y

the problem is that some communities have devolved into: person a: "my opinion is that green is a nice color." person b: "i hope you die a painful death." I'm happy to hear differing opinions. But watching people t

I don’t know why, but my thought was the same as the third most voted comment in the thread too. The collision avoidance system, which I would have guessed was ultrasound, but the guy on reddit says it’s microwave. Either way, that could

I think they used fewer or smaller usb controllers in the cheaper model. So it only has bandwidth to drive two ports. And I suspect it was intentional to encourage high end users to take the one with the touch bar, as a way of driving adop

It can be a little of both. > I suspect that if you've got problems with Slack, it means that there's a problem in the culture of where you work. One can work somewhere that has a problem in the culture, and Slack can make that

The models without the touchbar have fewer USB ports. That’s why it’s questionably optional. My work setup uses two external monitors and wired Ethernet. So I’d like three ports and no touch bar. If I want enough ports for my setup, I ha

Where I used to live, in a major American city, my choice was Comcast for broadband. Or dialup at 56k. Or DSL at maybe less than 1mbit/sec. a lot of Americans don’t have any true choice of ISP. This is why we want regulation. The fr

I'm sure that's been thought of. People who walk, take transit, or bike to work probably don't want the hassle of lugging a package home if it's anything larger than would fit in your backpack. Having stuff delivered t

Is package theft from your porch or doorstep a big problem in the Netherlands? Our letters in the US just get left in the mailbox too. But we don't really have a problem with people stealing those either. It's just not that big

That’s kind of the point of public services. They have to service everyone equally. If that makes them inefficient, so be it. It makes them more fair. The efficiencies of the private companies you speak of also disenfranchise portions of

I haven’t had ups or fedex deliver an amazon package to me in about two years. But I miss it. Instead some random person pulls up in a beat up minivan and leaves a package on my steps, and now they take a picture of them the porch before

The insurance only covers the pump up to a certain dollar value. The fancier pumps, you have to pay for, but I think you get a rebate from insurance. So a $200 pump is probably free, but this $1000 pump, is probably still going to cost you

I did this with fail2ban. Initially just blocking the IP, and then sweeping back through occasionally and blocking the whole subnet when I had a few offenders in the subnet. There was no negative impact for me.
