My mistake, but I'm not assigning magical powers. I'm aware of what a holographic display is, and the rift fulfils 3 of the 4 criteria. The lack of accommodation in my experience is not critical and the applicability to lytro is s

I believe[1] that the head tracking qualifies it as holographic. That light field stuff looks super interesting... 1. http://doc-ok.org/?p=337

I think it's nearly inevitable that the immersiveness will lead to some useful stuff. We have a lot of biological circuitry that can take advantage of the extra bandwidth of VR. Already there's some niche applications[1] that show

I don't know what kind of VR you have tried, but the experience of being "in" a rift is fundamentally different to watching a movie. The dev kit is extremely low res, has ghosting issues etc. Still it seems to have a visceral

The Leap itself isn't very practical with the rift/VR since it needs line of sight with your fingers and tilting your hand sideway causes a loss of detection of most of your fingers. You would need multiple sensors at different lo

Anecdotally... The way I perceive framerate is related to the resolution. Take a horizontal panning shot at 720p/60hz... a vertical line might move 2 or 3 pixels per frame. At 2560*1600/60hz the same line jumps 4 or 6 pixels per frame and s

Designers depend on programmers to take it from mockup to prototype. How can that be done if nobody knows about it? You are saying that a mockup is basically nothing, that anyone can do it. If that's true, why do we need designers at all?

Press the windows key and type "calc". The mouse method isn't so intuitive - use the top/bottom right hot corner and click on search, it's there under windows accessories.

There's an ios app called "Minecraft Reality" which uses camera tracking to put models into physical spaces. It's not seamless by any stretch (you manually download each model from a list of nearby placements before viewing) and it loses sy

You can be mindful of all of those things, but it's not necessarily the thing they start you off with with. Breath is easy to explain and locate... not everyone can isolate their heartbeat or eye movements easily.
