For the first point I agree. In this person's case it is more extreme. I don't know what capacity your involved in sell side trading but I'll share some cases I've seen in case anyone else reading is curious as well. For

Yes this is what I meant. Basically if your in sell-side trading, corporate flows are your bread and butter. The way it works is some corporate customer has some hedging need and the sales desk slaps on a big fat margin that contributes to

I used to work in trading. Honestly a very large portion of the markets trading type business for investment banks is really just taking advantage one way or another of these kind of regulatory loopholes, not as blatantly as this maybe but

That's actually an interesting thought. I don't know how much actual value that would actually add but would be pretty interesting

I can sort of resonate with this. I also realized that once I make it my default assumption that whatever it is I plan to do is most likely going to result in some sort of dumpster fire, and if I'm still ok with it, than the fear, conc

Yeah this is highly prevalent in the game botting industry. A lot of games these days have detection mechanisms if you access memory directly and change anything, or hook their functions. A friend of mine tried to drag me into game botting&

As sad as it is, I feel this is more or less accurate. Unfortunately humans and society as a whole are wired such that we are compelled to form factions and destroy each other. But I guess that's what other animals do anyways

Kudos to you, that's awesome, especially giving most of it to charity. How did you reach your customers? At 5 dollars per sale, that's around 100 customers per month for something that seems relatively non-essential

In general though from what I read on hn I get the impression that it sucks to be an early employee at most startups, especially early stage. From what I've read a lot of compensation seems to be in equity and not cash, and unless it t

That's not really how it works though, it's a monthly salary and you aren't actually paid more if you spend more time doing work. If anything the contrary works: if I've spent an hour taking a dump at work, then I'v

I see this a lot but I feel its quite difficult to actually pull off. Even though your mvp can and should be shitty sometimes it still takes a lot of effort and talking with potential customers to even figure out what you should be building
