I'm excited to see a CAMM socket on a Thinkpad. I remember reading about CAMM a few years ago and thinking "wow looks futuristic, when will I start seeing it in hardware I care about?" and that day finally arrived.

"Quietly" is another watermark word I've noticed lately (though not in TFA to be clear).

Looks pretty cool. I feel they got some features right for their target demographics: - 2 fun colors + 2 regular - The Magic Keyboard looks like it has a decent amount of travel and should hold up well - Headphone port, recognizing that wir

Very cool! I have a DX4-100 system with an empty CF card calling for Linux, I'll have to give SuSE 5.3 a try. I see it has KDE 1.0 which will be fun to explore. I had similar experiences with the Am486DX5, I could only run it at 100MHz

It's an (understandable) bummer that the latest phones and iDevices require the latest iOS/macOS. My friend was trying to stay on Sequoia but then couldn't interface with their new AirPods, so they had to upgrade.

This is brilliant. It could be fun to redo the process every 6 months and hang them up in a gallery. Maybe someday (soon) an embodied LLM could do their self-portrait with pen and paper.

I wouldn't call it easy, but it's conceptually simple to cut a square hole in some drywall to access behind it, and then pop the piece back in with screws, mud, and tape, then paint.

Brick is mentioned near the top: > a method of constructing walls that has been a mainstay for at least 6,000 years, predating mud bricks To be fair the article is about drywall and its history, not the history of all walls in general.

I wonder if simply moving to a nearby port would work. I assume only port TCP/23 is filtered instead of filtering the telnet protocol itself.

Yes, but changing users is a function of the shell (or maybe more specifically /usr/bin/login), not the SSH daemon.

> ssh needs a capability to let root logins One can disable root login via SSH in /etc/ssh/sshd_config. sshd also drops root priviledges once it's running IIRC. I use use sudo or doas as a regular user once logged in.

It might be the telnet filtering in action. The host responds to ping but I get nothing back on TCP/23, not even a reset.
