It seems a little backwards though right? Imagine if they offered a Netflix-style service (or akin to PlayStation Plus). They could grant access to their back catalog for something like $10/mo, and roll out segments of the back catalog

Mobile ads are much better than web ads, in my experience. You just need to wait X amount of seconds and it's gone. Apps don't have pop-unders or any of those insufferable loop traps. Plus you can often pay to make them go away. Y

Except that Nintendo doesn't offer the vast majority of their back catalog in any shape or form.

I don't think they're quite small enough to be pocketable, but some cities do sweeps with specialized on-car air quality equipment to find natural gas leaks (Boston leaks like a sieve, for example - https://www.edf.org

I actually had a FiOS installer tell me that he cut a neighboring building's Comcast line because my line needed to run through their property and they were dicks about letting him on the property to run my lines. He was almost unreaso

They're currently being investigated by the Justice Department and fired dozens of people over sexual harassment. They also maybe knowingly stole self-driving tech. Seems like a few big deals. And those are just the bigger issues, ther

Fair. Personally I'll occasionally look at the source to see if there's any obvious trickery going on. It would be interesting to do a study to see what people consciously think about that type of thing.

Still a net loss against public transportation, the current savings are also largely driven by artificially low fares that Uber subsidizes with driver bonuses (to undercut the market).

AirBnB does a lot of these — and they aren't necessarily dick moves when you're looking at something with limited availability. If 1,000 people have looked at an AirBnB listing, it does actually make sense to book faster than a pr

Capitalism isn't the best way to solve public infrastructure problems. Public transportation better serves: the poor, those without smartphones, people with small children, people in trafficked areas, the handicapped... Uber/Lyft

This is too short-sighted. In my city a lot of people use Uber INSTEAD of readily available public transit (anecdotal observation). That's kind of a bad deal if it's a widespread truth. This would continue to hurt public transport

In my experience conferences are just a huge waste of money. I can leisurely read everything covered at a 2-day conference in half a day, and I don't have to suffer through people trying to pepper in memes. I only go to them because my

That's the thing though, the user base is largely a bunch of high school kids that go to the same school - they likely see each other daily. They don't need to "live" anywhere and to the contrary, they don't want to

Snapchat has a certain demo cornered though. Kids aren't using Facebook like their parents are; it's a brand thing more than a feature thing.

We have mild, flat, and dense. Boston and NYC, for example. I think the only missing piece in many cities is funding and prioritization.

I'm defending the use of "usability" as a blanket term used to argue against subjective visual changes. Unless you can show me evidence one way or the other, your use of the term "usability" is subjective bunk.

I know someone on the design team and they actually did user testing against the changes, and it's a mix of usability improvements and aesthetics. You can't really say something is less usable without some evidence.
