I agree, older code is evidence of survivorship bias. We don't see all of the code that was written with the older code that was removed or replaced (without a code repository).

Personally I would use this for live sports. Imagine being court side for the NBA finals? Have cameras / AI that would let you do a 360 view.

I think the major decisions behind Rust is being explicit and making the programmer make decisions. No NULLs, no Implicit conversions, no dangling pointers. Lifetimes, Optional, Results, each Match branch needs to exist, etc. Side note: Sta

You're not wrong, however, who would have funded lasers? What about CRISPR funding? Most scientists are focused on status, however, many revolutionary discoveries come out of basic research paid for by the government and not companies.

Microservices are GREAT when 1 team owns each service. I haven't seen a good use case when you have 1 team supporting multiple microservices.

Something that is scary is Clearview AI, etc. Then you don't need a person to recognize you, AI can do it. Add in Meta Rayban and it'll be harder and harder to maintain any shred of privacy.

What shocked me in the aughts was how bad Lotus Notes was. I was pretty sure that the average IBM executive wasn't using the average version of it. Using the most commonly version of the product, on the commonly used hardware, at least

Yes, it's the isolation levels. I want row level locking. I want to have 1 insert and 20 selects running at the same time without getting a lock.

I love Guido's balance. You don't need type checking and annotations if you don't want to use them. They are nice when you're playing in more complex systems, however, completely optional.
