I think Mervyn King's take in "The end of Alchemy" is a better approach from a practical perspective than Taleb's though. Essentially that we just need to stop kidding ourselves that we can predict the tails, and to buil

Air powered die grinder, drill, or impact gun. Or, if it sounds real choppy, maybe an AC TIG welder. I’d bet die grinder. They’re not used all the time, and they have VERY high rpm sounds which are always terrible.

Why should companies plan to weather this kind of thing? Honestly, holding huge amounts of savings is a suboptimal deployment of capital virtually 100% of the time.

Profit is what's left over after salaries. Break-even sports would still be paying plenty of people for their time and giving them jobs to feed their families.

This all depends on what you're hanging. If hanging art worth more than $100, use steel cable. Museums and galleries all use steel cable because it is easier and nicer to work with. dyneema is strong, but not chemically stable and will

FWIW, if you airdrop files from phone to desktop, they come as HEIC, and it isn't always easy to convert them once you've got an HEIC file in my filesystem instead of my app.

I've been waiting for the integration of active directory and linkedIn. It seems only a slight stretch to think of using corporate data and social data for cross-validation of true Identity.
