How did you find the first month? I’m terrified of starting as I’ve read that the side effects can render you unable to do anything for weeks.

Do you mind me asking what you were like before? I’ve had generalised anxiety disorder for ~12 years and have kept it manageable using some of the techniques you’ve described (breathing and meditation being the main two) however this year h

I haven't been impacted in Australia at all, but all of my (probably US based) monitors are going off.

Yes and no. Obviously not great when everything goes down, but I find a strange sense of solace and calm when I know there’s a lot of people in the same boat and there’s little I can do but wait.

Yep, still running my saas product on it, have been for over 5 years. Never had any issues really, and we deploy through a CI/CD so we don’t have GitHub connected. Still more expensive than I’d like, and the lack of an AU option sucks,

Recently got an M1 Mac, I couldn’t be happier. I use it all day every day for dev (ruby, node, react) Everything was far easier than I expected it to be, the only issues I had was with installing python (a few cli Utils required it) but eve

Whenever I've seen the 100% refundable, it tells you later that the first night will be taken off the refund as well, even when it's just a single night stay..

Ever since CF went public, their support quality has fallen off of a cliff. It's really sad to see as they have a great service, and especially recently have built some amazing stuff. I just don't understand why humans helping hum

I love ruby, built my first business on Ruby/Rails as a Monolith and it purrs along all day, every day. Easy to use and maintain, but I'll never do it again. Hiring is just too hard. I'm currently building my next product on

There's two words that stick out for me here. "Boring" and "Entrepreneurial" Reg. Boring: It's all going to come down to how YOU define it. Folks on HN (and life in general) is filled with people who can get fa

We're looking at a simple Lift & Shift to AWS. We're building our next product on AWS, so makes sense to move everything there, and the agency that we have doing the 24 hours monitoring runs a bunch of rails apps on their AWS

Yeah I tried that, but being a small shop, I just can't afford to match the salaries of the bigger companies, and after a year (of mostly training) they get poached by a company that can pay 20-30k more than my little bootstrapped star

If Only Ruby was actually popular outside of our own circle, I might have an easier time at hiring ruby devs :(

Same way we’ve done for years, via our CD (circle CI), which uses the Heroku CLI We’ve been lucky that this entire event has, theoretically, not touched us as we never connected GitHub. That may change as more information comes to light. We

100% this. I’ve used GraphQL on two projects now, where we manage the front and back end, and it’s been an amazing experience. A strong type system, combined with a GraphQL code generator and typescript, has been an amazing experience as bo

We're also starting to look into this. We're already spending more than we need to, but depending on what this breach turns out to be, we very well may need to move to AWS to keep our enterprise customers happy.

I was wondering if that email was going to make it to HN. This whole things has been an absolute s*tshow. Now I'm worried that there is a much bigger issue at play, and we might actually be in a bit of trouble.

I built my first business on Heroku. Started 5 years ago and still, for the most part, it's going strong. There are some really strong downsides (especially after the last 2 weeks) but as a dev team of 1 (mostly) it's been a life

Same. Every time a new version gets released I feel a pang of guilt for that poor codebase, but it's been jogging along for 5-6 years with minimal updates and it works like a charm. Fairly big code base as well. I did upgrade from reac

Just beat them last night.... it was brutal. If you explore a bit you'll find a site of grace that's directly in front of one of the gates. I also switched to frost damage and it made the fight almost trivial.
